Zelda giggled. "He'd get that look on his face. You know the one," she said. It was the same look he'd had when he found them in the hospital last year. Now that they were getting married, tonight, she felt able to joke again — like they were through to the other side of whatever had been happening now, and maybe everything wasn't fixed, but this meant that it would at least get better.

"So we need to get Delight and we need to go to Montrose," Zelda said, "And then we'll be married." She leaned up to kiss him again. They had a plan. Really, if getting Delight out of her house wasn't too difficult — this would all be very, very easy.

"And then we'll be married," he agreed, with a grin. It probably wouldn't be as simple as all that, because he still didn't really know what he was doing and they had to find a minister who would humor them first and who knew how long that would take — and glass, apparently, which was a Jewish Thing that Alfred did not particularly feel like questioning at the moment. It probably would have made more sense if they split up, to divide and conquer — it would be less conspicuous for Zelda to go and retrieve Miss Urquart alone than it would be for the two of them to do it together, and if they separated he'd have some time to find a church on his own so that the three of them weren't just wandering around Montrose for hours trying to figure this out. As logical as he knew it was, though, he didn't really want to let her go.
