Dear Mrs. L. Rose,

Please forgive my writing to you directly, but I have found myself in quite a predicament as of this afternoon and you were so kind when we did business together in February, and the leisure gown you made for me was so lovely — I apologize, this likely seems pandering and perhaps I ought to state my purpose in writing first so that you may better understand the relevance of such statements.

The news of the Santa Antonina shipwreck has cast a good deal of uncertainty over the status of Mr. and Miss Lytton, who were both onboard. The gown for my debut — scheduled for the 17th of April — was one we had commissioned from the House of Lytton, but now I am unsure whether or not either of them will be available for the final design and fitting. I know one week for a gown such as this is terribly last minute but is there any way you might manage it? I've already discussed the matter with my mother (she wanted to wait until Monday to send a note during business hours but I thought with time being so tight already perhaps I might write sooner) and we can offer a premium price for the inconvenience of the shortened timeline, if it matters.

Please say you can help me? I simply don't know what I'll do if I'm forced to go see some strange designer for something so important and personal as a debut gown, someone I've never met and whose skills might be only third rate. I did so appreciate the work you did on my last gown and you chose the pattern so well to suit me and I should love nothing more than for you to make my debut gown, if there's any chance in the world that you could.

Sincerely,
- H Cartwright -

Miss Cartwright,

Of course I shall come to your aid; while I wish the Lyttons a safe and speedy return home, I think it only natural that you worry with such a timeline. Come to me at your earliest convenience and I shall endeavor to see you leave with a gown that makes you feel confident and every bit the young lady you are.

Sincerely.
L. Rose

Dear Mrs. L. Rose,

My debut was this weekend and the gown was splendid, only this boorish gentleman stepped on the train midway through and tore the hem. My sister did a bit of spellwork to make it serviceable the rest of the night but I was wondering if perhaps I could bring it in for a proper repair? I know it's not the fashion to wear a debut gown again during one's first season but I did so love the dress and I can't bear the thought of it languishing in a closet. Perhaps you might make some adjustments as well so that I could wear it again this summer?

Sincerely,
- H Cartwright -
