The Changing of the Guard
With both the head and assistant head of the Department of Magical Law-Enforcement RESIGNING IN PROTEST, there exists a leadership void and many potential candidates. Rather than a "Bob is online first and grabs it" situation, we are doing a Prefect Season-esque application process!
All active characters with the following experience in the British DMLE are eligible to apply:
These years do not have to be consecutive, nor do they have to be "current"—did you work in the department 40 years ago? You, too, can apply!

- Assistant Head: 7+ years, or 3+ years and a banked AtO which will be consumed if you receive the promotion.

Timeline & Process
OOC and IC, applications are accepted from today until September 26th. Candidates will be interviewed from September 29th to October 2nd by a panel consisting of the Minister of Magic, the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot, the Interim Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and two other NPC members of the Wizengamot. Interviews will not be threaded. All candidates and their spouses (if they have one) are invited to a dinner party at the Dempsey house on the evening of October 3rd (the full moon). This is not required, but your character may feel as though it will harm their chances not to go.OOC and IC, candidates will be notified on October 6th.
Behind the scenes, all candidates will get scores in three categories, averaged together:
- Resume, based on their experience. Each year of junior work is awarded 0.5, of regular work awarded 1, of supervisory work awarded 1.5, and of senior work (department head or assistant head) awarded 2. Aurors and former aurors get a +1 for clout.
- OOC by staff based on their personality, public background, and reputation. Just like with prefects, staff applying for a role will not score candidates in it! This represents the Wizengamot as a vague entity.
- IC by three played characters based on their personality, public background, reputation, and interview responses. This represents the actual played interviewers. The selected department head may have the opportunity to score the potential assistant heads, depending on timelines.

- Meet the required resume minimum above.
- Have at least 10 IC posts if created prior to August 1st, 2025
- Have at least 5 IC posts if created on or after August 1st, 2025
- Have the reputation section of their profile filled in.
- If WC, be willing to accept the class bump (and related rep ding) for your family.
