Seeking some things for a new character! I've got his history vibed out but the details are just sketched in and I would love a few character touchpoints to build around!

For any of these, I'm open to existing characters (w/retcons if needed), new characters, or your characters' NPCs/want ads. Basically just connections and people to plot with!

Diligent Grimshawe is 35. He is WCHB, tends bar and deals cards in Knockturne, and is a cursemaker — that is, for a small fee he will imbue letters or small objects with curses so that your rivals will have perpetually runny noses, a sharp uptick in papercuts, terrible itchy skin blemishes, sudden bouts of narcolepsy, or perhaps even some real, lasting harm (that costs extra).

Some places other people could fit in his history:

• EXPULSION. He was expelled midway through fifth year. My favorite hook for this so far was that he maimed a classmate in an unofficial duel gone too far and the (wealthier) student's family pushed for harsh consequences. Other potentials here: caught seducing a wealthier classmate, caught stealing from a professor, accidentally blew something up or endangered other students. THIS COULD BE YOU IF: 1-2 years +/- his age (35) or professor working at Hogwarts 20 years ago.


• FIRED. Worked in service for an UC London family and was dismissed for cause - what cause, and precisely when, are up for debate! Options: hot-headed temper tantrum, gambling, caught tampering with your good shit, etc. (18-13ish years ago)


• UNFORTUNATE CRUSH. In my heart this is a young WC London prostitute but I know we don't have any, so. Anyone he might have met and fallen for, who could subsequently have been hurt by someone else. Grimshawe cursed them, as you do. Word got out and others in the area eventually started asking for him to do the same for them. The UNFORTUNATE CRUSH is unavailable (emotionally or otherwise - could be married or even dead by now) and he feels fine about it, thanks.


• A STEP TOO FAR. A victim of a particularly nasty curse of his. Maybe you weren't even the target, just an unfortunate bystander. Maybe you were the target but he realized later you didn't really deserve this. Anyway, he has an Unspecified Emotion about it.


• RECKLESS. I have a marker in his history outline that just says "does something reckless" so if that sparks any ideas for you feel free to shout. Getting arrested? Getting into organized crime for exactly (1) crime and realizing he's not cut out for this? Very ill-advised hookup? IDK I'll figure it out as I write the rest xD
  

  

So when would this 'something reckless' need to be? Because my boy Sylvano Capobianco is reckless by nature, the second son in an organize crime ring, and a cursebreaker over... very questionable legality. So if you need him involved with something questionably legal, Sylvano can be Of Use.

I'm sorely lacking in either creativity or real connections here, either are possible, but Eileen Buchanan might work for your Unfortunate Crush? She's had it rough in love, but nothing concrete has ever happened, so it could be an easy retcon as long as it isn't too disruptive. Just tossing it out there, even though she isn't active XD

Re: everything else -
I went ahead and wrote his history because I'm impatient to play him :P But I could still put existing characters in his expulsion incident (any boys 1-2 years older than him), his domestic service family (UC in/near London), or the other spots. I left his recent history pretty vague because again, impatient - Arcardia, maybe if you're open to it we could plot and do a past thread once he's approved and put something in that way?

  

Hey! The fired incident could have happened in the Rosier's Town Manor in London. They are a nasty pit of snakes and I can think of a multitude of scenarios; since Alastair Rosier is involved in the seedier side of Wizard London, this could be an ongoing minor feud
