Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
The defence professor greatly preferred duels conducted by older students. For one, the rules required no more than a brief overview but, more crucially, they were simply better, more creative. Curious to see what the pair before him would produce, Nikolai gestured to Mr. Bones to begin.
Although he'd always excelled in Defence Against the Dark Arts, never would Eldin claim to be the school's best dueler. He knew Miss Sweetie Whitledge in passing; it was nearly impossible to not know her after sharing classes for six year. She was inclined more to intellectual pursuits than frilly ones, which made her a more formidable opponent than most ladies. Still, he was confident he could defeat her.
Wand raised, Eldin attempted to conjure ropes that would hopefully bind themselves around her wrists.
While transfiguration was her favorite and best subject, defence against the dark arts was possibly a close second. Being in the dueling club, it did give her a confidence that she did not have in the potions competition. But letting it get to her head wouldn’t help. Focus, she reminded herself. "Protego!" A shielding charm seemed practical, even if it wasn’t flashy.
Miss Whitledge's shield charm likely would have been excellent, had it been quick enough. Instead, the young witch found herself altogether bound and unable to do anything.
"First point to Mr. Bones," Nik announced, vanishing the ropes. "Miss Whitledge to begin the next pass!"

Sweetie huffed slightly at the lack of success. The Slytherin nature of determination ran through her veins as she quickly thought of another spell. Thinking of a clever one from fourth year, she felt that it would be fitting to see how her opponent could handle the duel with the Jelly-Brain Jinx muddling his thoughts. If it worked. And thus, she cast her spell.
"Stupefy!" Eldin cast in response. If there were a subset of spells he hated more than anything, it was the type that muddled and messed with his brain.
Speed, this time, was Bones' downfall as he was easily hit by his opponent's spell. Nik indicated for the young wizard to begin the tie-breaking round.

Mr. Bones liked flying, right? Sweetie decided to cast Avifors, imagining him turn into a bird as fast as she can. Hopefully faster than before his spell hit.
