    Questor Spryly vs. Beatrix Borgin
    Private Thread
    Hamish did not fancy young Spryly’s chances. A scrapper of a lad, the Gryffindor would surely do his best, but after a term out of school, and against a fourth year, the professor doubted a positive outcome for the boy. Hamish reviewed the rules of the competition to remind both parties before inviting young Master Spryly to start.

    Spryly had been convinced the tournament was rigged against him from the moment he found out that his first duel was against a fourth year girl. Just like he'd been set up to be kicked out in the first place when he was just as human as any of the students who had stayed at school. Why the world was trying to set him up for ultimate failure, he didn't know just yet but he thought it was hideously unjust.

    Unjust or not, whining about it wouldn't help him win the duel - but the leg locking jinx he sent at the fourth year girl might.

    It was, quite frankly, a point of honour to Trix that she should win this particular duel. Not only was the pride of her house at stake - and her gender, blood, the list went on - but the urchin in front of her had been absent from Hogwarts for a whole term so his prowess with a wand was unlikely to be great. She could not lose.

    Paying keen attention to his actions she immediately conjured a shield for whatever he was attempting to send.

    @Questor Spryly
    Quite predictably, Miss Borgin’s shield charm did the trick. Hamish bid her to begin the next turn.

    @Beatrix Borgin/@Helena MacMillan
    Beatrix considered the numerous nasty things she had picked up from the shop, the sort of spells she oughtn't to know but could not help overhearing from her father and brothers, but instead smiled sweetly: she knew better than to do anything of the sort at school. Even if she dearly wished to.

    With something more acceptable firmly in mind Trixie attempted a jelly-leg jinx.

    @Questor Spryly
    Having not been taught a shield charm yet, Spryly resorted to something a little more risky for a defense. He pointed his wand at his own legs and uttered the incantation for a spell that would hopefully propel him off the ground long enough for him to dodge the spell.

    “Miss Borgin is our winner,” Hamish announced. “Five points to Ravenclaw!”
