    Sisse Thompsett vs. Holly Scrimgeour
    #1
He took great care in explaining the rules, knowing that neither young lady had any dueling experience. When satisfied that neither would set the other on fire, Hamish bid Miss Thompsett to begin.

Sisse's hands were definitely clammy as she curtsied to Miss Scrimgeour, she was also pretty sure that her heart was thumping loudly beneath her robes and her cheeks were red at the thought of so many people watching her.

Her mind whirled with ideas, but as she watched the Slytherin ready her own spell Sisse focused on the fact that she really did not want whatever spell Miss Scrimgeour was preparing to hit her with. Without really thinking about it she aimed at the other girl's wand and said, "Wingardium Leviosa!"

Holly was already a self-assured girl with little doubt that she was the brightest first year, and being the first one to have successfully cast a shield charm upon beginning their Defence Against the Dark Arts class last September assured her that this dueling thing would be easy. She and Miss Lestrange had even practiced a few more advanced spells, meaning Holly would definitely have an advantage!

She curtised and shot the Gryffindor a warning glance—one that could only be read as 'Beware'. At the sound of the spell being cast, Holly raised her wand and bellowed a shield charm.

It was ambitious to try to levitate an entire person, and it was that ambition rather than the Slytherin’s shield charm that was Miss Thompsett’s downfall. Hamish declared Miss Scrimgeour the winner of the first round, and bid her to begin the next.

Ah yes, now it was her time to shine! Smiling with satisfaction at the declaration that her opponent's spell had failed, Holly raised her wand and cast: "Petrificus totalus!"

Sisse frowned, panicking would not make her successful. She took a deep breath. Holly had been defensive, maybe she should echo that. She cast a shield charm, after all she had been successful with that in class.
