With an average height of 5'9", Bax has never considered himself particularly handsome or given it much thought really. His hair is a normal, though rich brown, and he keeps it on the shorter side, purely for convenience at work. His features are strong, inherited from his mother's side of the family; he looks much more like his uncles than his father. He is naturally right handed and dresses rather casually. He doesn't believe in getting good clothes messy at work and the hospital is a messy place sometimes. His hair often fall is in casual disarray, though he starts the day with it looking tidy, it doesn't always stay that way. His grey-blue eyes appear to see right through you and can be a bit intense, especially if he's up close. His eye color tends to vary between grey, green and blue, depending on what his is wearing.
Baxter Warren Keene was born on a warm May day in 1850, the first son and child to Beatrice and Albert Keene in a old farmhouse in Gloucester, England. His birth was a joyous event, especially for Bea who had always longed for a child of her own. Her arranged marriage to Albert was comfortable, but she would not lie and say there was a soulful love between the two. Bea desperately wanted somebody to love and when Bax came along, she finally had somebody in her life. The Keene family was blessed with three children, though Bea would not have minded having more, her last pregnancy was complicated and she was unable to conceive afterward. Baxter showed his first signs of magic around the age of seven when he managed to levitate his sister onto the counter so that the two of them could gain access to the cookie jar in the kitchen.
Nevertheless, the Keene children grew up in a mixed environment, getting nothing but loving affection from their mother and cool indifference from their father. Albert grew very sick about the same time that Bax received his letter for Hogwarts and passed just shortly after Perry was born. Even though he was sorted rather easily into Hufflepuff, Baxter seemed to hide his emotions about his father's death rather well. Surprisingly, unfazed by the news, as Baxter had long ago given up on having any kind of relationship with his father, he supported his mother during her grieving and helped his siblings to understand what happened. Perhaps it caused him to grow up a little too quickly, but Bax took his new role as head of the household rather seriously.
The Keenes were left with a comfortable amount of money and his mother never had to work, for which he was thankful. It would have been hard for him to be away at school if she needed his constant help. Bax often feels guilty for not crying over his father's passing, but just could not bring himself to miss a man he hardly knew.
School went by in a blur and before he knew it, Bax had graduated from Hogwarts and moved into an intern position at St. Mungos Hospital in London He'd earned just enough NEWTs to be accepted into the program and he became determined to do better. He had been a bit too much of a social butterfly in school, getting caught up in games of quidditch and flirting with girls to stay completely focused on school. His OWL grades were not as good as he wanted them to be and he hunkered down in his last remaining years of school to do better than he had before. Baxter had always had a thirst to prove himself to his father, even though Albert hardly ever seemed to acknowledge him. He never really knew what his father thought of him, but Bax ended up growing into the kind of man he thought he should be.
His internship lasted the standard year, where he was eased into a position into the creature-induced injuries ward. Bax spent all of his time in London in that ward, but found himself more interested in the mysteries of artifact-induced injuries. There was more to puzzle out with the artifacts healing than creatures and not that Bax liked to see anybody come in injured, he would rather at least learn something in the process. He moved to Hogsmeade in 1877 when the hospital was opened and slipped into an artifacts position. He enjoys his job and can be a bit of work-a-holic and often picks up extra shifts. He is not currently looking to find a wife, despite his mother's constant nagging. His younger sister married before him and has thankfully blessed the family with two children, so the pressure is off of Baxter, for now.
Warm, caring, curious, intelligent, trustworthy, gullible, a leader, calm, collected, an oblivious flirt, sometimes too casual, can be sarcastic without meaning to, grounded, protective sometimes overprotective, over serious sometimes, often awkward.
