Lucius Algernon Lestrange
October 17th, 1827
Special Advisor to the Wizengamot
Ceder, twelve inches, dragon heartstring. Rigid, and wielded with his left hand.
- William Lestrange, Father (1763-1879; Unspeakable; Former Slytherin) | Even from his earliest years, Lucius always took after his father immensely. That he was the eldest son in the household worked to his advantage; it came as little surprise when Lucius inherited everything upon his father's death. William died mid-conversation at his retirement party in 1879.
Octavia Lestrange nÃe Yaxley, Mother (1803-1852; Socialite; Former Slytherin) | Though saddened by the loss of her, Lucius had little to do with his mother in life or in death.
Klaus Lestrange, Half-Brother (1801-1875; Former Ravenclaw) | Born well before any of his siblings, Klaus was the only child to William and Maria nÃe Krum. He had little to do with his siblings at any point in his life, though his children did interact with them to varying extents. A Department Head, he was slaughtered by his brother in 1875.
Sebastian Lestrange, Brother (1830-1882; Former Ravenclaw) | Sebastian is a twin to Katherina.
Katherina Selwyn nÃe Lestrange, Sister (1830; Socialite; Former Gryffindor) | Katherina is a twin to Sebastian.
Tybalt Lestrange, Brother (1834; Dark Wizard; Former Slytherin) | Tybalt was always just a little bit more on edge than his siblings, and a little bit too interestedùpublically; there is scarcely a Pendergast man who hasn't at least dabbledùinterested in the Dark Arts. This, unfortunately, culminated in 1875, when, in an attempt for more power, he murdered thirteen Ministry workers, including his brother Klaus. Currently, Tybalt is serving a life sentence in Azkabanùa sentence Lucius himself recommended.
Olivia Pendergast nÃe Lestrange, Sister (1837; Socialite; Former Slytherin) | The middle of the Lestrange girls, Olivia is probably the one most similar to Lucius, though the two are not particularly close. Olivia is married to Philip Pendergast.
Mariana Macnair nÃe Lestrange, Sister (1840; Healer; Former Ravenclaw) | Lucius finds his younger sister absolutely baffling with her strange interests and her incredibly fluid morals. Though he endures her company and respects her intellect, he finds Mariana to be too tiring to be around long-term.
Alexandria Lestrange nÃe Rosier, Wife (1839; Former Hufflepuff) | A small, quiet woman, Alexandria only ever had three things going for her: appealing looks, a pure bloodline, and an unreasonably large sum of money. The only child of a notable wizard, the two were betrothed from the time that Lucius was sixteen years of age, a match he paid little enough attention to until the time came to be wed. Though she has dutifully provided him with five childrenùand her inheritance, after her father passedùLucius has never done more than tolerate the woman, considering her to be rather vapid and largely trivial.
Claudius Lestrange, Son (1859; Unspeakable; Former Ravenclaw) | The third Lestrange down the line to take to the role of Unspeakable, Lucius has great respect for his sonùthough has never been particularly close to any of his children, due to work obligations and a moderate level of disinterest. He has no qualms about the fact that Claudius will take over the family when he himself has died, a high mark of praise.
Valeria Lestrange, Daughter (1865; Slytherin) | His eldest daughter, Lucius has a great deal of interest in Valeriaùas the first of his girls, her behaviour serves as a marker for her younger sisters, and to give the rest of the world an idea of what to expect of his girls. Though he has not actively looked into the matter yet, Lucius intends to arrange an affluent match for her when the time comes. He does wish more of his children had been placed in Slytherin, as she was.
Cassius Lestrange, Son (1866; Ravenclaw) | Cassius is very much unlike his father, who frequently accuses the younger of his sons of not having enough ambition.
Cornelia Lestrange, Daughter (11; Hufflepuff) | The middle of Lucius' daughters, and the youngest presently attending school.
Seneca Lestrange, Daughter (9; Too Young for School) | From all reports, Lucius' youngest is exceptionally well-behaved. As the only child still in the house, Seneca is afforded the unique advantage of solo time with Lucius, rare as such an event occurs. He finds her somewhat charming, and hopes to betroth her before she begins school, so as to guarantee her future.
Orestes and Priam Lestrange, and Andromache Pettigrew nÃe Lestrange (1836, 1844, 1839; Children of Klaus) | The boys found themselves too old to be proper nephews in Lucius' eyes, but too young to be as if brothers; as such, he has next to nothing to do with them, and is very much relieved that William's will passed over them entirely after their father's unfortunate demise. Lucius has never paid much attention to his late brother's daughter.
Regan, William, Rosalind, Ellory, Regina, and Warrick Pendergast; and Evelyn Abercrombie nÃe Pendergast , (1861, 1864, 1866, 1867, 1883, 1883, 1863; Children of Olivia) | All pureblooded. Regan and Evelyn are old enough to have married, while the others remain in school. The twins are infants. Olivia had another daughter, but she was disgraced and has been struck from the family.
Sebastian, Mirella, and Priscilla Lestrange (1865, 1862, and 1867; Children of Sebastian) | All pureblooded, their father's disgrace saw them fall to the middle class. The younger two reside with their mother in Italy, while the eldest has recently moved to Hogsmeade to work as a governess.
Lucille Callaghan, Noelle Selwyn, Two Other Nieces, One Nephew (1856, 1865, 1850, 1858, and 1862; Children of Katherina) | All pureblooded, they now are old enough to have started families of their own, or be well on the way to doing so.
Tiberius Lestrange, Nephew (1864; Son of Tybalt) | A student in Slytherin, Tiberius resembles his father both physically and mentallyùthe latter of which is troubling to his relatives. After Tybalt's incarceration, Lucius had no qualms about taking the boy in, now viewing Tiberius as a third son. The two are quite similar in their...interests, if nothing else. Lucius is aware of the rivalry between Tiberius and Cassius, and subtly encourages it, believing it will be to the ultimate advantage of each of them.
Tatiana Lestrange, Niece (1866; Daughter of Tybalt) | A student in Slytherin, Tatiana was taken under Mariana's wing after her father was sent to Azkabanùthe first motherly figure the girl was ever offered. Though Lucius would have taken the girl in as he had her brother, Mariana had greater interest in the matter. He has little to do with his niece, seeing her only at family gatherings, social functions, and when she visits Tiberius.
Valerian, Agrimony, Betony, Yarrow, Germander, and Sage Macnair (1861, 1864, 1864, 1868, 1870, 1872; children of Mariana) | Save for the twinsùwho look nothing like their father, a fact that tends to be ignored by the public and are half-bloodsùall of Mariana's boys are pureblooded, like any æproper' Lestrange grandchild should be. Ranging wildly in appearance and personality, their number makes it no wonder that their mother looks older than her years.
The Lestranges have ties to the majority of pureblooded wizarding Britain.
- Lucius is what you would expect for a man of his age and affluence. Not particularly tall, he stands at a flat five feet, ten inches, his sturdy frame filled out somewhat by age and lack of activity. He dresses well and always appears neat, of not religiously fashionable. His dark hair is kept short, hazel eyes large on his face. A beaky nose shared with some uncle or another rests above the thin lips of his mother, and various scars dot his body from his years as an Unspeakableùif you know where to work with them.

Sample Roleplay Post:
- BLOOD PURIST | Lucius is a staunch blood purist, and is not quiet about the fact. He surrounds himself with pureblooded family and associates, never forming more than a casual acquaintance with those of mixed bloodùand scarcely finding a word to say to a mudblood or muggle. His children will wed purebloods or find themselves cast out, and no muggleborn shall find a place at his table even when social convention would otherwise demand it. He views squibs as lower on the pecking order even than mudbloods, and abides them no more than he would a muggle.
CONSERVATIVE | The status quo ever having worked in his favour, Lucius does whatever he can to ensure nothing ever changes. Furthermore, his views are the older, more established ones, favouring arranged marriages, class hierarchy, and the like.
MANIPULATIVE | Lucius likes to get his way, and he pays little mind to who might have to be used in the process.
INTELLIGENT | Thinking is something Lucius does often, and does well. Always quick to learn new skills and to assess the world around him, his is a calculating nature.
CHARMING | For all that he can come across as an arrogant ass, Lucius is truly in his element in social situations. He can get along with just about anyoneùif he chooses toùand was quite the flirt in his younger years. He makes friends with ease, though is less skillful at maintaining such relationships.
DUTIFUL | Though he may not always enjoy it, Lucius is the sort to do what is expected of him without fail. It is for this reason that he is faithful in his marriage, that he tolerates those he views as too far beneath him to breathe the same air, and that he is fairùfor the most partùin his occupation. He will also take secrets with him to the grave, if your are privileged enough to gain his favour.
CURIOUS | His has always been a curious nature, prompting investigation into all sorts of areasùa trait that has lead to his study of the Dark Arts. Though he hates to admit it, Lucius is also something of a fiend for gossip; though he scarcely repeats it, his ears are always open for whatever rumours might be floating around.
DECISIVE | Lucius is quick and rational to act, and he seldom does so without knowing what the consequences of his actions will be. To this end he is also quite stubborn; his mind is very seldom swayed.
DIRTY LITTLE SECRET | Lucius was Tybalt's companion in the practicing of the Dark Arts, and so was able to watch as his brother became more and more infatuated with them. Though he was never quite as aggressive a practitioner, he did not dissuade his brother in his plansùwhich he used to his advantage, ensuring that Klaus would be present when all hell broke loose. From then on, Tybalt was too much of a loose cannon to remain present, and so Lucius deftly took steps to ensure his brother would never see a day of freedom again. He may or may not have been involved in the death of his father-in-law, though was legitimately displeased by his own father's sudden passing.
Quote:As a sixth year, and as a female, Odira saw little need to addend the job fair as so many of her classmates had seen fit to do; after all, even if she were to graduate that May, and were to take interest in finding an occupationùnot, as her sisters had done, in finding a husbandùthe Ravenclaw would no doubt seek employment with her father, an environment with which she was already familiar and comfortable. As such, the prefect had found her way into groups with younger students, those interested in taking in Hogsmeade the same way as they always did: a chance to get out of the bloody castle and escape the assignments they should be doing instead (mind, Odira's assignments had all been completed in the days before). She had been, however, quite disheartened when it became evident the horde of fifth years in her company had little more desire than to spend the afternoon at Honeydukes, and a particular stroke of luck that she had bumped into her brother on the High Street. A quick word with the group's chaperone and Odira found herself under Sampson's less-than-stringent eye, making a beeline for what was, doubtless, her favorite shop that the street had to offer: Whizzard Books.
Her brother left her not seconds after stepping foot inside the store, assuring the sixth year that he would be back in an hour to return her to a chaperone. Sampson was not one to linger overlong in a book shop, and Odira had never been one to require much supervisionùparticularly when there was at least a handful of customers already present, and a large portion of them were female, so as not to suggest anything untowardùand so such an arrangement was not an unusual one for the half-siblings.
Odira made her way not, as usual, to the selection of muggle literature, but to a display of new books in the open area near the shop's ground floor window. Idly, she bent slightly, eyes skimming over the titles. While pocket money was not something she had ample quantities of, the shop boasted enough seating for her to spend her designated hour reading quietlyùwhich the girl firmly intended to do. Really, she realized as she passed over Dragons of the East and Magic of the Americas, she could have simply spent her afternoon in the Hogwarts library.
Out of Character
None. Shut up.
How did you hear about us?:
unless you're related to him, work under him, or are a mudblood, lucius is actually very friendly. your character might find him intimidating, but would not consider him a giant dick, esp. if they are also a UCPB.
