In order to keep up appearances, the man who is living as Gianna's brother is pushing her onto the marriage market to find a husband. As he is actually her husband just living in hiding under her brothers name, this leads to a couple of options.
They have a successful ship leading to a sort of bigamy by Gianna (her husband is recorded as dead so legally she is a widow, but not really
Her hus-brother turns jealous and violent, he is a gangster after all.
They just have a bit of fun to get some stuff out of her system as her and her hus-brother are trying not to sleep together so she doesn't end up looking like she got pregnant by an unknown or worse, her brother.
It turns out to be a massive scam where they rob your character blind
