The WG is the Ministry’s group of lawmakers, as well as the highest legal court. Members are appointed no earlier than their thirtieth birthday, and may serve until their death if they so choose. Unless they’re arrested, the one reason they could be fired.

The Wizengamot is made up of roughly fifty members. This group automatically contains the Minister of Magic, Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and Senior Undersecretary to the Minister. While not all individuals are current Ministry employees, almost all of them are former.
The WG is formally led by the Chief Warlock (which has, on occasion, also been female), though in truth s/he is on equal footing with the Minister of Magic and the Head of the DMLE.
The senior-most regular members of the WG are the Interrogators. They are tasked with leading the prosecution of criminals during the trials the council oversees.
Following that, the body of the Wizengamot is tasked with drafting, debating, and passing the various laws that govern the Wizarding world.
WG scribes are not formally members of the group and have no power beyond writing things down and running errands.
New members must be nominated by the present Minister of Magic or Chief Warlock, but must also be approved by at least 51% of the existing membership. The entire process, from nomination to appointment, can take anywhere from thirty to one-hundred-twenty days, depending on how bogged down they are and whether or not some of the very old members remembered to vote.
Most new Ministers will try to bring in a new face during their first year in Office, both to show he has support and to bring in more support.
Because this is such a dignified position, it requires staff approval, much like prefects. If you/your character is interested, please verify that they meet the following requirements:

- 10+ years in the Ministry of Magic or a vastly notable member of the community.
