Josiah had been lucky enough not to lose any of his family members to the mist. They had done a quick head count once everyone had been said to have been evacuated. They had friends missing though. Josiah, being a friend of the Plunketts and thus often visiting their farm that sat just outside the Hogsmeade barrier, was a little more used to the "uneasy" feeling being so close to the Hogsmeade boundaries caused muggles like himself.

It was like a constant sense of queasiness but thanks to his frequent visits to the Plunkett farm, he had ways of making it bearable. It was still his greatest sadness that he would never be able to see Hogsmeade with his own eyes. He stood with his candle and listened as people spoke of their loved ones.
