Apollonia Honeycutt is the 3 Broomsticks Owner/Manager! So if he's a regular in there, she'd recognize him! They were also close in years at Hogwarts I believe.

Long shot so nooooo pressure to say yes lmfao buutt if Barney visited a - ahem - lady of the night, Avery Davenport was on the opposite corner of the USA in her brothel, but one of her friends could have been that lady at some point and told the rest of the girls about them, which causes Avery to recognize him by description (scandals, failed courtships etc)

Irene Crawley - suffered unrequited love for Elias Grimstone, admitted said love, got rejected, went off to italy, came back to dragon attacks, fell into a coma, then had her memories taken of Elias....has a magic card that allows her to turn her emotions off. I think that's it.
Tilda MacFusty - was engaged to Eugene Scamander, lost baby sister in fire, realized she wasn't ready to be a step-mother, broke off engagement, is now a midwife for Melinda!
