Student Staff Selection '89

Prefect Season is my FAVOURITE TIME OF YEAR, and as such I hope everyone applies who is remotely qualified applies!

ABOUT STUDENT STAFF

Hogwarts' student staff serve as role models for their fellow students.  Additionally, they reinforce/penalize good and bad behaviour by issuing and taking away house points. In addition to prestige, prefects receive half of their tuition and heads all of their tuition in exchange for their efforts. They also get to use the prefects’ toilets because that is clearly a selling point.

Faculty recommendations will be handled privately, NOT via the prefect apps.

ACTIVITY LOG:
Optional. Reassure the staff team that your character’s been active! You can link to any of the following:
  • All active threads set at Hogwarts.
  • All completed threads set at Hogwarts.
  • All dead threads set at Hogwarts if you were the last person to post in them.
  • Any completed homework assignments.
  • Any class threads you’ve posted in, even if they’ve died.
  • Any quidditch matches you’ve posted in.
  • Any club meetings you’ve posted in, even if they’ve died.
Someone with a terrible personality won’t get cleared just because they’ve been more active, but activity is still a factor for us! You should only link threads from the 1888-1889 school year. Scored OOC only.

Your activity log is in addition to any evidence of behaviours/involvement found in the “why should you be prefect” section.

To apply, make sure your character meets the demographic in question (IE sixth year Ravenclaw female should be a female student in Ravenclaw house who will be in sixth year in September) and has at least 10 posts on their account. Charaters approved on or after May 15th only need five posts on their account—so you’re welcome to make a character to fit the bill ;) You must post the form below as a reply to this thread from the account in question.

Sixth Year Gryffindor Male
Seventh Year Hufflepuff Female
Seventh Year Ravenclaw Female
All listed years are incoming—if your character just finished their fifth year, they can apply for sixth year posts. All positions for upper-year prefects will be retconned to your character having held the spot since their fifth year unless otherwise stated, and in applying, you consent to this.

Applications for the sixth and seventh year prefects officially close on July 10th. Applications for fifth year prefects, remaining sixth/seventh year prefects, Head Boy, and Head Girl close on July 15th. Applications for any positions remaining close on July 26th! You may continue to edit your application as long as it remains visible on this page!

— With two years on the Ravenclaw quidditch team under my belt, I have demonstrated that I can work co-operatively with others.
— I don't allow sanctimonious chastisement to get in the way of helping my housemates when they need it.
— I have good problem-solving skills and a desire to assist others
— As the eldest child in my family, I understand the demands of such a weighty responsibility.
— I have a good rapport with many of my peers, including those in other houses.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
I do not allow prejudices to sway me, as shown by my CONTINUED FRIENDSHIP WITH TOPAZ URQUART. I also maintain friendships with girls in OTHER HOUSES. I have a cheerful and optimistic disposition, and keep my grades up.

More personally, I have shown myself capable of overcoming adversity, which I believe would keep me poised to counsel others.  I acknowledge that I do not always get along with everyone—my poor relationship with Miss Borgin is a great regret of mine—but I would not use a prefect's power to settle vendettas as some others do.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
I am active in school activities such as being on the Gryffindor Quidditch team and participating in dueling and Potion Brewing tournaments. I take interest in select academic subjects beyond the classroom. I am able to handle working with a group when it comes to problem solving as well as doing so on my own. I give other prefects things to do so that they don't get bored and I am very respectful of them and their requests. Honest I am.

Why Should You Be Prefect:
As the current eldest sibling of my family's children at Hogwarts, I strive to provide my younger siblings with a role model and someone they may look up to. It is a role I take seriously, taking care in tutoring them when I can, and take care to lead by example when adhering to school rules outside of Hogwarts (see previous and last links). I am active in school clubs such as Music, Art and Charms. When fellow Gryffindors are in need, I make sure to lend aid and comfort whenever I can, however, I willingly admit my faults and am determined to make them right.
