Appearance:
His appearance is clearly that of his mother—eyes, complexion, even the way he taps his quill as he thinks, though with only a dozen or so encounters with the woman throughout his life, the last is an unknown connection. Standing at a respectable five feet and ten inches, dark skin, eyes, and hair all betray his heritage and add up, if he says so himself, to a not unhandsome sum. He dresses neatly and fashionably but he has never been inclined to peacocking, even when the situation might otherwise call for it. Willard is right-handed.
History:
W. Pryce: An Unfinished Autobiography
A bastard. That is what they call you if you’re born to a mother but not a father, as I was in 1857, my mother widowed long enough previously to make my arrival suspect—only in the animal kingdom, after all, does a pregnancy last longer than a year. Though the man had no connection to me, she gave me his name (Ephraim Pryce) and her father’s (Willard) for good measure before I was farmed out, evidence of her indiscretion. Out of sight and out of mind, but not out of luck.

Even if my mother’s family had not been inclined to see to my education—and I am told that this was never even a question—it was my birth father who ensured my tuition would be covered, who furnished me with first-hand supplies for my time at Hogwarts. Though I had not met him to this point, I was aware of his presence in my life in the way a boy is aware of the sky or the wind, a knowledge that does not reach any level of understanding.

Ravenclaw. The Sorting Hat placed me there in the autumn of 1869, though in my adult years, I wonder if it might have chosen Slytherin were I less complacent in my youth. I did not explicitly hide my familial status, but was hardly overjoyed as it began to make the rounds. Still, it did not prevent me from making some friends, nor did it stop me from high academic achievement.

So-and-so’s natural child. That is the kindly way of saying “bastard”, especially once your father chooses to acknowledge your existence. Mine did so in 1874, when, on delivering a third daughter (not a son, never a son), it was declared that his wife could not produce further children. I became his sole male legacy, and though I did not carry the Wyndham name—an honour I would relish, should ever it be extended—I carried his blood, his aptitudes. Ours was not, might never be, a conventional father/son relationship; there was a great deal of missing water under our particular bridge. Still, we moved tentatively forward and, on my graduation from Hogwarts (1876), he presented me with his late father’s pocket watch.

From one castle to another—after Hogwarts, I began an internship in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement with my sights upon becoming a lawyer. Though it was private practice that appealed most to me, it was my father’s voice in my ear as to the opportunities a Ministry career might provide that steered me in a new direction

My progress through the Ministry has been unremarkable, following the prescribed path of most in my field. Notable, though, was my acceptance to the Research Committee in 1888—a side project that appeals to the Ravenclaw within. I am not so foolish as to think my father did not grease the wheels for me in this regard, but I am confident, too, that I have proven my worth time and time again.

In spite of this, I must confess, the accomplishment of which I am privately most proud is convincing Miss — to become my wife.
