Jean Montfault, father (1812)Appearance: Javert is a tall (5'11'') and well built man, as his profession makes sure that he is not idle. He can generally be considered quite good looking, as he has clear and well-proportioned features. His hair has a medium brown hue and his eyes are blue-green, like his father's. When he's not at work, Javert enjoys to wear expensive tailored suits. He is right handed.
Vivienne Montfault nee ----, mother (1834)
Orianne Montfault, sister (1862)
Odette Montfault, sister (1865)
Xavier has a nice childhood. His family isn't wealthy, but his father earns enough (as a Ministry employee of some sort) for the family to live comfortably.
He gains two sisters; Orianne when he's five and Odette three years later.
He was an active member of the dueling and Quidditch clubs. He would have wanted to play for the team, but there was always too much competition and Javert wasn't that good. By fifth year, dueling had become his prime athletic activity.
His best friend at Hogwarts was a Hufflepuff from his year, Orpheus Parkinson. In spite of their different backgrounds (Orpheus was a pureblood and the grandson of a former Minister of Magic), they bonded from their very first weeks at Hogwarts.
He was an early bloomer when it came to girls. He had some innocent flings with girls of the lower classes. His first proper sexual experience took place on the night after his graduation, when he and Orpheus visited a brothel in London.
He was almost kicked out of the programme when he nearly got himself killed during a task. He tried to pull some Gryffindor-y heroic shit and his supervisor would have none of it. He's given a second chance and Xavier learns his lesson - at least until he becomes a full-fledged auror.
He is relieved when, in the end, he does complete the three years of training and becomes an auror. It was time for him to become a hero!
Meanwhile, in 1877, his father opens a theatre in Hogsmeade. Xavier thinks it's a silly investment, nevertheless, he doesn't mind the chance to rub backs with actresses.
Nothing really of importance happens between 1879 and 1885 so let's just skip to 1886 and his heartbreak involving Andromeda Parkinson.
The years were passing and Andromeda was getting older. In 1886, she was no longer one of the "fresh" debutantes and, encouraged by some friends and the fact that he earns quite a lot as an auror, Xavier decided to try his luck and ask for her hand. Maybe Astrid Parkinson would look pass his social standing and his lesser blood status. Her own brother married a muggleborn, after all!
It doesn't go well.
The only person who seems to be on his side is his superiour, Justin Ross. It is because of that (among other things), that Xavier happily supports Ross' ministerial campaign that year and he is rejoiced when he's elected Minister of Magic.
