Hudson could have been considered handsome in his youth, though his years of outdoorsy work has left him somewhat tanned, wrinkled, and looking nearly a decade older than he truly is. He has dark hair, dark eyes, and a very distinct mustache that hasn't changed since he was old enough to grow it. At the very least, he still carries his masculine charm—strong cheekbones, expressive brows, a distinct jawline, and a well-groomed appearance. He's opted for a more conservative style of dress since becoming a father, and appreciates accessories that demonstrate the wealth he often dismissed in favor of practicality in his youth. Much like his brothers, he's always been on the taller side and stands at five feet, ten inches tall. He is right-handed.History:
Personality:Into The World
1844 | Hudson is born on a breezy summer afternoon in July. While the birth was quickly celebrated by the household, things turned dark very fast—his mother was weak by the fourth hour following labor, was bleeding uncontrollably by the sixth, and was near-death by the eighth. Though she ultimately survived the close run-in with death, the birth of her first child would bring with it feelings of anxiousness that would leave him an only child for much of his early youth.
1848 | His first sign of magic makes an early appearance at the age of four.
1850 | Hudson is finally given a brother, much to his surprise! Despite many of his friends having siblings of their own, the prospect of having one himself was always such a foreign idea. He dotes on little Sydney in ways that most boys his age wouldn't, though the novelty of a new baby in the house fades after a few months.
The First Adventure
1855 | Hudson receives his Hogwarts acceptance letter as expected and goes off to school in September. It takes very little time for the Sorting Hat to declare he'll spend the next seven years in Gryffindor house—and it definitely proves a good fit. While not a stellar student, neither is he one professors and other students could consider a slacker; he gets a handful of good grades and a handful of poor ones depending on his interests.
1856 | Clinton is born a month or so before he returns to Hogwarts. Hudson doesn't really care.
1857 | Third year comes and he adds a single elective to his course load: Care of Magical Creatures. Given his family's natural affinity for magical creatures, it is unsurprising that he takes the class very well—and I mean very well. He dominates class discussions, badgers the professor about assisting outside of class, and constantly checks out books related to the subject.
1860 | He takes his OWL examinations in the spring. It goes....decently enough. Sixth year comes after a mostly uneventful summer, and he continues with five classes: Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, and Potions.
1861 | A fling with a Gryffindor girl in the year below him sees him lose his virginity rather young—but much to his dismay, she feels an overwhelming amount of guilt after the encounter and abandons him.
Spring, 1862 | He takes his NEWT examinations and graduates from Hogwarts!
The Second Adventure
Summer, 1862 | After brief deliberation on what career to pursue—if any, give his family's wealth and his position as heir—he decides to think it over while he goes on a Grand Tour of sorts. Which originally starts out as a trip to see the world and experience the wonders of Europe quickly turns into a career move when he meets [name here], a much older gentleman who recently retired from a career as a Magizoologist after suffering a heart attack on the field. A friendship turns into an apprenticeship of sorts, and Hudson leaves with a promise to complete the unfinished research.
1863 | Hudson receives news from abroad that his mother has given birth (???) to a baby girl. Which is fine, he supposes, if not a little odd given the gap between newly-born Vera and Clinton.
1864-1866 | His travels take him around the world, and he practically forgoes any opportunity to take advantage of his station in favor of a life of constant movement, worn outfits, and gatherings with the (often impoverished) locals. While his main focus is creatures—he comes in contact with plenty he'd never seen in Britain!—he learns much about the cultures and peoples that the British have traditionally dubbed "savage".
1867 | While temporarily living in South Africa with a merchant and his family to study the creature that's supposedly been terrorizing their household, he meets Miss Beatrice Moodley and is immediately taken with her. Her sharp intellect, curious spark, and her dreams of adventure has him seeking other accommodations once he finishes the task for the sole purpose of remaining close to her.
1868 | Much to his surprise, it's Miss Moodley who admits to her feelings of affection towards him—and he is very pleased to reciprocate them. Their affair is characterized less by fortification and more by secrecy; despite his wealth, her father always finds reason to criticize his character and career.
1869 | During a visit to the Moodley family with his business/traveling partner in tow, a very embarrassing and very exasperating encounter has him defending his reasons for remaining in South Africa. The entire situations culminates into him admitting—and to a house full of Beatrice's family members!—that he's stayed because he's in love with her. It seems his embarrassing (or romantic, as it was later described) admittance was enough to sway Beatrice's father into letting him court her.
The Scariest Adventure
1870 | Marriage. He never considered such a thing until the previous year, and he certainly never believed it would happen before the age of thirty. His proposal to Beatrice is almost accidental, but there's no taking it back once it happens; the two marry mid-July, and by September he's arranged to whisk her back to Britain to meet his family. A surprise pregnancy during their visit sees them pushing aside dreams of adventure and glory to settle down and have a family. Thus, the years of maturity begin.
1871 | By the time their first child arrives, Hudson has already grown bored with a life of idleness. He publishes the mostly-finished academic journal co-authored by himself and [name here] and it sees moderate success commercially, but massive success among other academics. His success combined with a desire to do something meaningful has him applying for the Care of Magical Creatures professor position at Hogwarts—and by September he joins his younger brother at school, except as a professor rather than a student. His wife delivers their first child, a son named Ambrose, during the winter holiday in December.
1873 | Beatrice gives birth in April to a daughter they name Roxanne. She's absolutely stunning but his position means he sees very little of her until he returns home for the summer vacation.
1874 | Another baby! Little Charlotte joins their family during the summer, and Hudson soaks up what time he has with her until he has to return to Hogwarts. Only he doesn't have to, and his wife points that out constantly; the temptation to resign and live off his family's wealth overwhelms his mind leading up to the beginning of the school year, but he just knows he'd be miserable with an idle, meaningless life.
1877 | What starts out as a calm year leads to chaos when the muggles riot across the British Isles. Hudson immediately picks up his family and moves to Hogsmeade, and just in time, too—his wife gives birth to Aric shortly before the school year begins.
1883 | Ambrose begins Hogwarts and in sorted into Gryffindor.
1884 | Beatrice and Aric nearly perish in the plague, but luckily both survive. Roxanne joins her elder brother at school and is sorted into Gryffindor almost immediately upon the Sorting Hat touching her head.
1885 | Shortly before the school year starts, Hudson is promoted to Gyrffindor Head of House. His children seem less than pleased, if only because it means he'll be more active in their day-to-day activities away from home. Charlotte joins her siblings at Hogwarts and is spared from her father's watchful eyes as a Slytherin.
1887 | A strong supporter of the rights of half-breeds, Hudson is less than pleased when the Board of Governors decides to ban half-breeds from attending Hogwarts. The resignation of Minister Urquart sees him supporting Ross, and he is pleased when his election aligns with the overturning of the ban.
Presently | Preparing for the school year—if there will be one at all! The fog has yet to relent, and Hudson is getting more nervous as his family remains trapped under its cover. On the bright side, Aric's turning eleven!
Other:ACADEMICALLY-INCLINED. ADVENTUROUS. PRACTICAL. BOLD. NO-NONSENSE.
