Despite any challenges she has faced, Perdita lived a fairly decent life and had a great childhood.
Party of Three | Perdita Grace Bloomfield was born on a calm, starry night in early December, the breeze becoming cold and crisp. Apprehensive but hopeful, her mother, a Pureblood, and her father, a Muggleborn, were, without a doubt, happy; Perdita's birth was just the beginning for the couple. They were also part of the outcast wizarding families that flocked or settled into the newly established, all-magical village of Hogsmeade. |
Oh Baby! | A second child was born and joined big sister, Perdita, as the newest addition, making the Bloomfields a family of four. As the eldest Bloomfield child, Perdita will likely become a strong and capable figure who wants what's best for her brother/sister. |
Hitting The Books | In 1882, Perdita would start receiving lessons from a governess/tutor who often came to the Bloomfield home. |
First Showing Of Magic | Perdita may or may not have showcased her first sign of magic by accident. Sometime after dinner one day, she was trying to reach for some sugar-coated fruit chews that were just out of her grasp. In her eagerness, and without meaning to, some of the fruit chews would suddenly float a few inches towards her; it was only enough for her to grab them. |
— 1890 Hogwarts Letter; First Year | During the summer of 1889, Perdita's life would begin to change. An owl, a Barn owl named Blink, would deliver a letter sealed in an envelope. The bird would perch on the windowsill, silently watching Perdita open the envelope that contained this letter. This letter would formally invite Perdita to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry; a train schedule and a list of supplies would be enclosed. Her eyes would light up with happiness; it was clear that she was excited and couldn't wait to attend. As for her parents, they were proud, expressing happiness for their oldest daughter. Perdita would be seen clutching a worn leather-bound book when the school year began, the chill of the Hogwarts Express biting through. With her brown hair as the color of delicious chocolate and eyes like polished wood, it was evident that she would feel a tremor of excitement. This wasn't just any school; this was Hogwarts, a place steeped in history. The Sorting Ceremony felt like a lifetime ago. The air in the Great Hall had thickened as soon as her name was called, the expected murmurs becoming a tangible force around her; the familiar, chilling melody of the Sorting Hat followed suit. Perdita would feel a tug, a pull towards something deep within. With a final, dramatic flourish, the Sorting Hat would place her in Slytherin. Perdita would ignore the whispers that came; she wanted to find solace in the company of her housemates, and their shared thirst for knowledge and quiet confidence. She would thrive; her aptitude for magic would blossom under the guidance of her professors. |
— 1891 Second Year | Perdita would clutch a worn leather-bound book to her chest yet again; the familiar scent of aged parchment and beeswax would fill her nostrils. Her second year at Hogwarts felt heavier than the first. The previous year became a whirlwind of new friends, exhilarating lessons, and most importantly, flying on a broomstick. It had been quite a while since she had first arrived at Hogwarts and was awestruck by the towering castle and the whispers of magic. The whispers, however, would now become her own; a low hum of anxieties and ambitions had intensified, as had the lessons. To her, Hogwarts wasn't just about the classes; it was all about navigating a treacherous social landscape. |
— 1892 Third Year | The chill of the Scottish autumn breeze would snake through the corridors of Hogwarts; this would bring a familiar comfort to Perdita. During this time, the air would crackle with a different kind of anticipation. It wasn't the nervous flutter of the first years or the practiced prances of the fifth years; it was a quiet hum, a focused intensity. Her chosen electives, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes, have become more than just classes to Perdita; they have become her sanctuary. She would find herself drawn to the numerical sequences during Arithmancy lessons, seeing the endless swirls of numbers in a fascinating dance. As for Ancient Runes, Perdita often devoured every word; her mind would race to decipher the intricate carvings and strange symbols listed. Amidst the possible chaos that came with the school year, Perdita would thrive. |
— 1893 Fourth Year | The chill of the following year would snake through the corridors of Hogwarts once more, a palpable presence even amidst the crackling fireplaces. Perdita's fourth year at Hogwarts was a different beast entirely. The classes would become more demanding, the expectations coming higher. However, beyond the classrooms, Perdita would be marked by a growing sense of loneliness. Close-knit friendships of the earlier years would fracture under pressure. Though initially isolating, Perdita's fourth year would ultimately lead her to a deep understanding of herself and the world around her. |
— 1894 Fifth Year | The biting autumn wind would whip through the grounds. Perdita's fifth year was a year full of looming exams and possible whispers of the normal gossip would cling to the very stones of the castle. At this point, it became obvious; Perdita would feel the weight of expectations pressing down on her. The weeks leading up to the O.W.L.s were a blur of late-night study sessions, frantic scribbling, and the occasional panic attacks that came with is. Perdita would find solace in the company of classmates, sharing anxieties and offering encouragement. To her, they were a lifeline; they were a reminder that they were all in this together. |
— Present Sixth Year | Perdita would survey her O.W.L.s results with satisfaction along with throwing in a hint of bemusement during the summer that followed her fifth year. It became apparent that she had failed Arithmancy, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, and Potions. When the school year began, however, Perdita would feel ready to face whatever lied ahead, proceeding to take only a few N.E.W.T.-level classes. |
