Overall, her appearance is youthful and sweet. Motherhood and age have rounded Fiona out since her youth. She was always considered “voluptuous” for her short frame of 5”, but after giving birth twice, she has settled into a permanently curvaceous shape. Big, bright blue eyes and long lashes accentuate a round face with full lips that are always smiling. She has light blonde hair that tends to fall in soft waves, though she tucks it back neatly at the base of her neck most of the time. Generally, she carries herself with confidence and approachability, hoping to appear easy to talk to and genuine. Her step is normally bouncy and bubbly, though not very quick. She prefers lighter hues after her mourning period ended, knowing they compliment her warm skin tone better than anything too bright. Her style is very plain and matronly, as befitting her station and situation in life. She is right handed for wand work and writing.History:
Personality:
1859
A DaughterFiona Celine joins three older brothers. A robust and healthy babe, she quickly becomes to apple of her mother’s eye; Deirdre had always wanted a girl. 1860-1870
ChildhoodThe Magee family owns a pub and inn in Galway, Ireland that’s quite popular among locals and travelers alike. Her time is spent roaming around the pub listening to stories and helping keep the place clean. Fee takes to music naturally and can sing quite well, often entertaining in the evenings.. She’s always had a healthy set of lungs on her, even as a babe. She also learns to play the penny whistle from her father. Her brothers go off to Hogwarts and somewhat regular intervals until she is the only one left. Fee has never had a hard time occupying herself or feeling alone; the pub is always full of interesting characters. She learns to bake and spends a lot of time in the pub’s kitchen and also learns a lot of the ins and outs of running a business, even at a young age. Her mother is very involved in the inn and manages most of the books, knowing it’s good for ladies to know how to run both a household and a business. These skills would help her later in life. 1870-1877
HogwartsA quick sort into Hufflepuff, Fee finds herself right at home in the den. Her warm and generous personality has always been at the front of her persona and she makes friends easily. Classes come somewhat naturally to her, though she does not excel at any, she does well enough to continue on with the ones she likes. She adds Divination and Muggle Studies in third year out of pure curiosity, but only continues on with Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology and Muggle Studies into the NEWT level. Her grades upon graduation are sufficient, but Fee knows she’s just going to go home and help her family with the pub. Largely her Hogwarts experience is quite average. 1877-1879
Post Grad LifeAs expected, Fiona goes back to Galway to help with the inn. Her bubble personality sees her serving various purposes between barkeep, maid and entertainment, she feels very at home and quite content with her current situation. 1880
RomanceAidan McCarthy comes into her life like a gale force wind one evening while traveling through on his way north one February night. He is working on a book about Irish fairy tales and magical folklore and is immediately charmed by Fiona. Their courtship is fast and furious and it’s clear the two are smitten with one another. They marry in the summer of 1880. 1881 Aiden publishes his book and it is wildly successful. He begins working on a second. Niamh is born in May and Fee settles into motherhood quickly. 1882 Fiona’s father falls ill and passes from something severe. Fiona’s oldest brother takes over the inn, but her mother is not the same afterward. Fiona suggests they move to Hogsmeade together for a change of pace and new scenery. 1883 Eilish joins the family and Fiona is just as enthralled with her second babe as the first. 1884-1893
HeartbreakFire, plague and doom. Both Aidan and Deirdre succumb to the Laughing plague. Utterly heartbroken, Fiona packs up her girls and moves back to Galway to be near her brothers and their families. She resumes helping Sean with the inn, picking up where she left off with the books and in the kitchen. Thank Merlin for supportive sisters-in-law and her brothers, she wouldn’t have made it otherwise. Between selling the house, her share in the pub and Aidan’s quick thinking, setting up the book revenue to go to her in the event of his death, she is set financially at the very least. She purchases a small cottage on the outskirts of Galway and raises her girls with their cousins nearby. It’s not easy, but it could be worse. Niamh heads off to Hogwarts in 1892 and though it leaves a hole, Fee knows it’s good for her girls to stand on their own. August 1894 Unable to stand the thought of being home alone, Fee takes a wild leap and decides to apply for the position of Hufflepuff Matron at Hogwarts. With Eilish’s impending departure to the school it feels like a good move, something new. The girls seem to accept her decision and since Niamh is not in Hufflepuff, it won’t be too much. Hopefully.
OtherMATERNAL | APPROACHABLE | KIND | GENUINE
Fiona is about as motherly as one can get. Stemming from having two daughters of her own, her kindness is rooted in the loss of her husband and parents to the fire of 1884. She is sympathetic, empathetic and will willingly do whatever it takes to help someone. She believes the best in people, almost to a fault, and can be blind to those who are taking advantage of her or who are dishonest. Loyal and steadfast, she holds her students’ admissions in confidence, unless someone is in danger. Her advice is usually pretty sage and reserved, giving guidance, but not telling people how to do things that they need to learn to do for themselves. She had a good balance of pointing people in the right direction without paving the way for them to make it too easy. She can sometimes want to get too involved when she sees people struggling or having a hard time, especially socially, but generally waits until students come to her. When she is crossed, she is reasonable, but very good at the Disappointed Mom Guilt.
» Likes to bake, often found in the kitchens with the house elves.
» Will knit a pair of yellow mittens for every first year and is often found knitting in the evenings.
» Her “office” off the Puff Den is very cozy, with a plush yellow sofa; always ready with tea & biscuits.
» Her door is always open and she is always eager to chat.
» Fiona likes to check in with OWL & NEWT students regularly to know how they’re managing stress.
» She has a large, fluffy, dopey, orange tabby cat named Toulouse, who is on his last brain cell, but he’s very sweet.
