1853: hudson kent browning is born, a firstborn child and a boy to boot. he's not a quiet, easy child, but he is a happy one.

1855: hudson's first brother, lysander, arrives.

1858: a second brother, emerson, is born.

1860: finally, jacqueline and dexter welcome their first (and only) daughter, ingrid.

1862: another brother arrives, clement. shortly thereafter, hudson's first act of magic makes its appearance

june 1864: hudson's hogwarts letter arrives, and he receives his first owl.


but what the hell are we fightin' for?
1864 - 1871
1864 — 1866: hudson's first years at hogwarts pass easily and contendedly. he learns, builds on friendships, and begins his journey to adulthood. he finds his classes to provide just the right amount of challenge, and delights in reading ahead, unlike many of his housemates.

1866 — 1869: entering into owl years, hudson browning opts to fill his schedule completely, taking ancient runes, ancient studies, and arithmancy — because for some reason, he's resolved to become a curse breaker, like his favorite uncle. his mother, of course, disapproves, but his father allows the idea, as hudson has shown no inclination towards the family business.

1869 — 1871: thankfully, hudson's owl grades are satisfactory enough to land him a full courseload, including ancient runes, which he imagines will allow him to specialize even further as a curse breaker, as the course is not necessarily required for the line of work he wishes to pursue. he ends his hogwarts career just the same as any other student, departing the school in the same way he arrived.

1871 - present
july 1871: when hudson's newt scores finally arrive, he's ecstatic, and goes off to gringotts the next morning to apply as an apprentice curse breaker. he is accepted, and his new employers seem pleased with his performance.

1873: when it is appropriate, hudson is promoted from apprentice to full curse breaker.

1877: the first year of distress, really, as hudson would see it. he's away in egypt when the queen is attacked, and decides to stay for the bulk of it, to avoid the turmoil. he writes home frequently.

1878: when hudson finally returns home in june, he meets gardenia philpot, a muggleborn witch whose family abandoned her to the magical world after the events of the year prior. they sort of click, though she is a quiet sort, and he begins courting her quite soon after. by december, he proposes marriage. she insists for some reason that they marry in january 1880.

1880: and so they do — on new year's day, no less! the celebration is quite a delight, and hudson is given enough leave from work for a short honeymoon period in their new home in hogsmeade. shortly thereafter, he has the house connected to the floo network, and while the whole of the house is under an anti-apparition spell, the back garden, quite secretly, is not, and when he wishes to return home, all he needs to do is apparate to the roses.

1881: hudson and gardenia welcome their first child, a son they name theodore.

1882: a year later, almost to the day, hudson and gardenia welcome their first daughter, agatha.

1883: in march, while on assignment, hudson is injured. it's really a non-issue, but the incident scares gardenia enough that she insists he leave the position as soon as possible. he hands in his notice later that month, and three months later, after relying on his parents for support, he applies for a position as a museum curator.

1884: a third child arrives, another daughter the couple name cordelia.

1888: gardenia's fourth pregnancy is unexpected — the couple isn't even aware of the child for a good three and a half months. but mordechai is a most welcome arrival to the household.

1890: the fifth and (so far) final child arrives in the browning household, a third boy they name christopher.

1893: hudson has been made aware of an opening in the hogwarts staff — in ancient studies of all things! just the sort of class a former curse breaker could, and probably should, teach. hudson applies for the position eagerly, thinking it will put him closer to his oldest two children during the school year.
