childhood: 1859-1869 | |
1859 | Victory was born the third son to a couple of Hogwarts sweethearts that had gotten wed after a years-long standoff with Victory's maternal grandparents. They had eventually gotten tired of having to continue to deal with their now-spinster daughter and so the pair were wed. Victory's childhood was a loving and jubilant one. The siblings were close, the parents loving, their life blessed. |
1861 | A sister is born who is named Promise. She is much loved by her parents and siblings. |
1866 | Victory has a burst of accidental magic at the age of seven, causing their toy brooms to race one another around the room. While the other King children grew out of their interest in brooms and Quidditch, the joy of them stayed with Victory. |
1869 | The twins eventually go off to Hogwarts and Victory feels their absence keenly. |
hogwarts years: 1870-1877
1870-71 | Victory joins his older brothers at Hogwarts and is sorted into Hufflepuff. He is a bright, happy child that has no trouble making friends of various backgrounds. He dreams of joining the Quidditch team but is too young to do so during his first year. Instead he spends his first year trying to get the current Hufflepuff team members to teach him what they know. He was also no stranger to exploring the castles and getting into the sort of innocuous mischief that any adventurous first year might end up indulging in. |
1871-72 | In his second year, he makes it onto the Hufflepuff team as a chaser. He plays in that position throughout the rest of his school career. |
1874-75 | Victory's fifth year comes and without a shiny prefects badge to show for it. No one was surprised. After all, he was prone to lighthearted pranks and mischief and did not tend to take his academics all too seriously unless he was really fond of the class or instructor. Not exactly the image of a role model that will keep unruly students in order. |
1875-77 | In his sixth year, Victory was given captaincy over the Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Both years that he was Captain saw Hufflepuff take the Quidditch cup victory. Victory's school years were also marked by a friendship with a fellow male student whose family was at the lower end of middle class. It was a friendship that slowly blossomed into a romance as the two got older. Victory had love, a promising future career in Quidditch and was content as he graduated from Hogwarts and entered the world of being an adult. In 1877, Victory and his family move from London to Hogsmeade since most of their family friends are doing so. |
early adult life: 1877-1884
1877 | Upon graduating from Hogwarts, Victory is convinced to join the Falmouth Falcons as a second string chaser. It isn't his first choice in teams but it is a start. He does not mesh entirely well with the team and does not get along with the captain who continuously encourages violence on the pitch. Victory decides to tough it all out, hoping it will get better. |
1878 | Victory moves to the first string but he still has issues with his teammates. He especially has an intense animosity with one of his teams beaters that often escalates to physical violence. |
1882 | Victory sustains a career-ending injury when a bludger hits his knee. Many swear that it was his own teams beater that done had done it, the one he had repeated altercations with though this is never proven. His knee is able to be saved but he is forever left with a limp and knee pain that acts up when it rains or snows. His Quidditch career is over and Victory spends the next couple years trying to pick himself up again. But life is hard and he doesn't know where he is meant to go from here. |
82-84 | While Victory's career was over, his continued romance with his school friend is going well. They are deeply in love and dream of eventually getting a flat together. |
1884 | Victory's life implodes when his brother, Bravery, discovers Victory and his lover together in early 1884. Bravery is not okay with what is going on between his brother and this man and he is determined to put a stop to it. Victorys lover is reported and arrested. Victory is put into an asylum instead of being given prison time because of ropes pulled by his parents. Victorys contact with his lover is non-existent due to their respective imprisonments. He is devastated to be parted from his lover and the conditions of the asylum do nothing to help his mental health. He is unable to find forgiveness for Bravery. Victorys turmoil deepens when he gets news of Bravery's death from the Laughing Plague. He does not know what to feel. He never forgave him for what he did but he also loved him. Victory is full of equal parts grief and equal parts rage. |
adult life: 1885-xxxx | |
1886 | After two years in the asylum, Victory is released for reasons he is never quite informed of. His parents say they will forgive him if he promises to never speak to his former lover or take another man as one. Victory is livid. His parents, who were supposed to love him - who had fought so hard for their own love - had betrayed him as far as he is concerned. He refuses. He is then disowned though had already inherited some money from his grandfather that allowed him to stay within the lower ranks of the middle class. For the time being, he scrapes by with odd jobs. |
1887 | Half-breeds are banned from Hogwarts which lights a fire within Victory that he thought had died out. He is among those that passionately campaign for a reversal. And from here is borne is activist career. |
1889 | Victory has the idea of opening a sort of cafe/public parlour where people of the LGBT+ community can gather to socialize without worry and just be themselves. He immediately looks into how to bring this into reality. |
1891 | After two years of research as well as squirreling away the money needed for it, Victory has opened Rip Van Winkle. To the general public, it seems to just be a pub & inn. In actuality, the pub & inn is the secret home of one of four entrances into a cafe/public parlour that is only accessible to those in the know due to various enchantments that prevent potential raids or accidental visitors. (More details in Other section.) |
1893 | An election is taking place and Victory is watching it with keen eyes. It is his wish that there will one day be a Minister of Magic that sees the value of all people. Not just the societal "norm". |
