Jasper always looked up to his older brother. The two enjoy talking about intellectual stuff. Jasper tends to share his worries with his brother, who’s much more laid-back.

A debutante with two failed season, due to her social anxiety. Jasper sympathises with his sister and privately thinks it might be better not to put her through situations that make her feel uncomfortable. He hopes to set her up with one of his friends.

Oscar is… intense and Jasper often has the feeling that his younger brother secretly judges him. That being said, he loves the kid and is genuinely happy with each of his successes.
Appearance: Jasper has a defined bone structure, kind dark eyes and pin straight hair in a similar colour. He is always groomed, with well-fitting but otherwise subdued clothes – he doesn’t like drawing attention to himself. Luckily, he is of average height, with an unassuming build. A pain point for Jasper has been that he’s left-handed – he learned how to use his right hand for writing (resulting in somewhat messy penmanship), but he couldn’t get used to it when it comes to wandwork. As such, he writes with his right hand, but operates his wand with his left.

Jasper radiates kindness and good vibes, though he can be on-edge and transfer that to others when he’s anxious about something. He’s prone to biting his nails and cuticles, which is why he often gets them manicured by his valet – he feels shame about his habit.
History:
Childhood (1866 - 1877)

Jasper is the second child born to Virgil and Kate Daphnel. He grows up in the English countryside, idolizing his older brother and following him around, happy to take on a secondary role in their games. He’s a shy child on his own, but next to Victor, he feels confidence… so long as Victor is the one in charge.

From childhood, Jasper is hard-working and diligent. He tries his best to ‘unlearn’ using his left hand, he never protests his tutor’s criticism and studies hard. Jasper is the opposite of a gifted child – he needs twice the amount to learn things, which instills strong work ethic in him… but also insecurities about his abilities.

At some point, Virgil subscribed to an academic magazine on dragons, which occasionally sent dragon figurines along with an issue. One of those figures finds its way into Jasper’s hands and that’s when his lifelong obsession with dragons began. As his literacy skills flourished, Jasper would read that magazine, hungrily devouring any information about dragons. He displays signs of magic by making the dragon figurines fly around his room.

Hogwarts (1877 - 1884)

At first, Jasper is disappointed not to join his older brother in Ravenclaw, which was really for the better. He would have likely spent hours stranded outside the door, overthinking a riddle question, until someone else let him in. In Hufflepuff, he finds a supportive environment with generally laid-back people.

One of his friends is Miss Christabel Dempsey. In truth, the two had been friends in the way all first years were super close in their first year, before going to their respective friend groups. Still, Jasper would admire her from afar throughout all his school years.

He’s a diligent and hard-working student and that shows in his school marks. If you ask Jasper, he was just lucky whenever he did exceptionally well at something. On the other hand, when he performs poorly at something, it’s 100% his fault.

In his third year, he picks up Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle Studies as his elective subjects. He’s super invested in both.

He was considered as a prefect prospect, though Jasper was quick to protest when his professors showed signs of considering him. He is terrified of the prospect of becoming prefect and having all this responsibility. There were people much more well-suited than him! As such, he doesn’t become prefect.

His fifth year was also a stressful time due to his OWLs. Jasper is convinced that he’ll do terribly, Troll all his subjects and be forced to drop out. What happens is the complete opposite: Jasper does exceptionally well, with several Os and Es and A being his lowest grade. Still, the insecure boy is convinced that he was just lucky to have test questions that he’d prepared well for.

His two final years at Hogwarts were largely uneventful. He does exceptionally well at his NEWTs, after many sleepless night and much anxiety.

Young Adulthood & Early Ministry Career (1884 - 1892)

After receiving the appropriate career counselling, Jasper joins the Beast Division of the Ministry, with plans of joining the research group of the Dragon Restraint Office.

He works hard, enjoying a pleasant relationship with most of his colleagues. He’s a great team member, though freaks out at the possibility of gaining more responsibilities.

He spends most of his time studying dragons, so he can be prepared to join the research team. Although a more ambitious and less anxious young man might have joined after a couple of years of working for the Beast Division, it takes Jasper nearly a decade and much reassurance from other members of his Department, to apply for a position.

Dragon Researcher & Approaching Thirties (1882-present)

Jasper becomes a Researcher for the Dragon Restraint Buraeu early in 1892. He’s also considering leaving the family home to an apartment in London. While he’d spend some months in his club’s lodgings, he’s worried about being in charge of his own ‘household’ – that is, a rented apartment and a servant. He tells himself that his mother needs him at home, with his father gone, but in truth he’s the one who needs Kate more.

In August of 1892 he began to look for an appropriate apartment, but will he move there on time before tragedy strikes and he’s needed at home?



Personality:
ANXIOUS – Jasper is prone to overthinking and dislikes the new and unknown situations. When met with new situations, he needs to have everything figured out before he can move forward.

IMPOSTOR SYNDROME – Jasper doubts his abilities, even when there’s hard proof otherwise.

HARD-WORKING – Jasper gives his all to whatever he takes up, largely due to his fear of making mistakes and disappointing those around him.

OBSESSIVE – …when it comes to interests. Like dragons. When Jasper is interested about something, he will learn even the smallest detail about it. Periodically, he’ll find a new special interest to be obsessed about, but dragons is his number one passion.

FRIENDLY – Jasper is generally a pleasant person to be around.

RELIABLE & RESPONSIBLE – Jasper doesn’t mind taking up the more ‘tedious’ tasks, making him a favourite co-worker to many. This also leads to him being taken advantage of in various instances.
