Muggleborn debutante who dropped out after two Seasons to work instead. Some rumours of being a flirt, although she isn’t.Residence: Women’s boarding house, Irvingly

1872 | Electra is born to a muggle couple in an ordinary middle class home in the Lake District, their first child.
1875 - 1880 | Electra becomes an older sister to Jason, Ariadne and Pandora, and attends the local school. She is clever and bright and protective, with just a bit of an attitude and a tendency to talk back when she disagrees with something.
1881 | There have been a few odd moments in her childhood where she thinks she might be a little unusual. Once she gets caught in a thunderstorm, and where everyone else is drenched to the skin, Electra skips home bone-dry. She’s made things invisible before, made things shrink or spill or break. She doesn’t know how, but she knows she did it.
1883 | This is finally explained, by a visit from a representative of Hogwarts. Electra’s parents are – shocked, but come around. She is a sensible girl, and will do well wherever she is in her life. Still, they are wary of what the neighbours might say, or if her magic will rub off on her younger siblings, and, even before she sets off to Hogwarts and despite her family’s best efforts to keep things the same, Electra can feel a subtle schism forming between her and her life as it used to be.
1883 - 1890 | But there is a lot to look forward to in this new life as a witch. Electra finds herself in Ravenclaw, curious and perceptive and perspicacious, determined to learn all she can and to befriend as many people as possible. It’s not the easiest thing for her, given her muggleborn heritage and the newness of it all, and when she’s young she’s something of a tomboy; but she falls into a few friendships along the way, and as she gets older, becomes something of an older sister figure to the girls in her house, too.
In the first few school holidays, Electra heads home, but in the end it is simply easier to stay at Hogwarts where she can – and every summer, too, she stays with friends and their families, to stay in the wizarding world. She feels like a little lost duckling, sometimes, but perseveres – learns how to take care of herself, make herself useful, find places to fit in.
She finds interests, too, in academics – particularly Astronomy, Charms, History of Magic, and Divination. She’s not exactly a real seer, but in the latter Electra finds a talent for making small educated guesses about the future, for being able to read the signs.
(In the summer of 1888, her father dies.)
1890 | In spite of her decent NEWT grades, Electra does not plan to work; instead, she debuts at the Coming Out Ball and begins to participate in the Season – which is what she would have done in the muggle world, too. Only she would rather marry securely into the wizarding world; working is her backup plan, if she ends up a spinster. Her widowed mother, from a distance, ensures that she has the funds to hire a chaperone and invest in a wardrobe and keep a dowry and do things properly, and much of the time Elly tags along to wizarding parties with her friends, anyway.
1891 | And she is enjoying it immensely – she isn’t especially pretty, but she is witty and clever and curious and interested in people, and has hobbies to keep her occupied in the off-season, when she rents a place in a respectable boarding house in Irvingly but spends most of her time with the wizarding families she knows.
Maybe she’s too curious for her own good. It’s the only excuse she has for the very stupid mistake she makes: sleeping with [TBD?]. She wasn’t in love or even swept off her feet, she just – wanted to see what it was like. And she pays for it. She discovers she is pregnant in the autumn and understands that if it gets out, she’ll be ruined: determined to keep it as quiet as she can and only confessing to a necessary few of her friends, Elly manages to get rid of the pregnancy. She is a little distant over the winter, putting her absence down to some other illness. A rumour surfaces, all the same. Not one anyone takes seriously – nothing especially true, just that she’s apparently a bit of a flirt, that perhaps the lack of close parental supervision allows her to be less well-behaved than some debutantes – but it’s enough to shake her. Elly wonders... well, no, her friends can be trusted with secrets, can’t they?
1892 | She might have averted the disaster and social ruin of having a baby out of wedlock, but Elly can’t fathom facing the spotlight of another season after that (how can she marry now? what if she can’t have children anymore; what if someone finds out?), so at the start of the year she takes up a position for the newspaper, and throws herself wholeheartedly into her Weather Witch training instead.
