What: Opening of the Podmore Lepidopterarium at the Podmore Zoological Gardens
Who: anyone!
Cost: Donations appreciated as always, normal entrance fee waived for the day, treats and souvenirs available for purchase from local vendors.
Where: Podmore Zoological Gardens, Irvingly
Why: new exhibit!
When: September 21st, 1894, last day of summer

After being a big hit at the Potts' Flower Show in May, the Lepidopterarium (butterfly enclosure) became a permanent addition to the zoo. It sits on the muggle side of the zoo and only hosts non-magical species of butterflies. It has been fitted with all of the appropriate flowers and climate to sustain the butterflies. There a two sets of doors on either side to prevent any butterflies from escaping. The building is a large, rectangular, glass conservatory with a circular center, topped with a dome, that has been separated into somewhat different spaces for the multiple kinds of butterflies with their appropriate flowers of choice.

Outside of of the conservatory will be crafts for the local children, flowers for sale, treats from Honeydukes and other various butterfly-themed trinkets.

What: Echelon-Arnost Estate Weekend
Who: Hosted by August's mother, Jena Echelon-Arnost, to show off her house and bully her oldest son into courting.

Why: Jena would like to show off her house and her adult children and I needed a setting for an awkward thread

A hunt and luncheon, indoor/lawn games, dinner, and tours of the home will occur on the 28th — on the 29th, there will be a breakfast and opportunities for various lawn games before people leave around lunch. People are welcome to drift in and out over the weekend.

What: Unveiling of the Hogsmeade - 1893 Dragon Disaster Memorial
Who: Anyone who lost someone - or would be socially obligated to pay respects
Cost: NA
Where: Aspodel Cemetary for Hogsmeade, and a similar location in London for their memorial stone
Why: Mourning
When: 14th September

Notable individuals who lost someone, ministry types, including were notified by letter. Nephele Lestrange has gotten up some money from donors to erect a memorial stone in the cemetery and a similar one in London. It has the names of everyone who was killed, even a small section for the muggles who were killed.

A notice was also put into the prophet so everyone would have a way to find out it was happening. There will be a few speeches, a few prayers, a few hymns and then the stone will be unveiled and a wreath lain at the memorial. The speeches and ceremony are reserved for the Hogsmeade memorial - no muggles to overhear talk of dragons

Tea will be served afterwards at the Hogsmeade Ballroom and the announcement of the orphan fund to support the education of children who lost one or both parents in the attack.

What: Grand Opening the Diggory Imaginarium
Who: Different seats and areas for different pay levels - but ostensibly a family show
Cost: Different rates for different luxury of seats, but its meant to be accessible and encourage crowds

September is the month of the Wolf, so this months performance will be themed around that, and a faux werewolf aesthetic and costuming. The midway prizes include small magically animated werewolves -the enchantment lasts about 2 days.

What: Scrimgeour-Manwaring Wedding
Who: & are getting hitched. It is a small affair, meaning just immediate family and close friends. Practically, this means:

TIS A WEDDING. Huzzah. Ceremony in the garden, followed by a wedding luncheon.

Abercrombie governess will fetch the Hogwarts-aged guests after classes the day before, and then return them to school in time for dinner on the 18th.

Who: The term "swingers" wasn't around yet but this party is for married couples who are known or suspected to be more "open-minded" than most. NPC host couple.

Guests arrive in the early evening. There is a formal seated dinner (couples will not be seated directly together) followed by the typical gender-segregated drinks/cigars/etc. The group reconvenes for parlor entrainment. This includes card games, a hired crystal ball reader, light music (no formal dancing, unless someone gets tipsy enough to start lol) and walks through the candlelit garden. The general idea is to provide a lot of space and opportunity for 'private' conversations despite being at an event the whole time.

What: Transfiguration Lecture Series: Welcoming Professor Karoui
Who: ACAB

Why: (an excuse to hurl my academic hermit) Transfiguration awareness and community knowledge sharing!
When: 28 & 29 September

On sponsorship of the Ambassador Bonaccord and his family, Professor Salma Karoui of Tunis, a world-renowned Transfiguration expert, will be holding a series of lectures on her work the weekend of September 28-29. The event will culminate in the unveiling of her latest book, a five-year research journey on the topic of magical transformation throughout history entitled “Transfiguration in History: How Magical Transformation Shaped the Wizarding World.”

Notes on Professor Karoui:
- she is expected to be a he to those unfamiliar with her work (keeping in line VE expectations, there may be a bit of a shocked hush)
- Karoui has published eight novels in her tenure as a Transfiguration researcher including “From Feather to Steel: The Reversibility of Transfiguration Spells”, “From Object to Animal: Ethical Considerations in Animate Transfiguration” and her most popular foundational text: “Understanding the Physical Limits of Transfiguration.”
- Hogwarts students who have taken lessons under Basil will be familiar with the name (assuming they paid any attention, not that they can attend, rip)
- She is Mesmerius’ age, or thereabouts

In attendance is, obviously Basil, but also Professor Thompson— his Hogwarts predecessor.
