Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
Ross was bemused by this duel, and it showed; he read through the rules as was proper, but his smile lines were showing from his amusement. "Excuse my formality, but Mrs. Ross," he said, "Will begin, with Mrs. Fisk to follow."

Roslyn Ross had not been able to stifle her laughter when she had seen the sheet: her first duel was to be against her brother's wife, and with her own husband as judge! It was, she thought, bemused, one of the perils of such an insular community—and such a fertile family. Then again, she was likely in for more than a bit of teasing from the more confident members of the Witches' Institute later!
She managed to restrain her laughter—but only just—as she curtsied to Dio, but found any attempt at solemnity very difficult to manage as she made eye contact with her husband. Still, she managed to cast a disarming charm without too much distraction.
In any other case where her opponent was the judge's wife, Dionisia would cry foul, but she knew Roslyn and was well enough acquainted with the Minister to know that her chances were not lessened by the coincidental pairing.
Dionisia curtsied in response and withdrew her own wand. She was no duelist with merely an OWL-level education, but Roslyn had never struck her as a combative force of nature. She had a chance. To her defense, she cast a simple shield charm.
Ross' wife's spell disarmed Mrs. Fisk before her shield charm finished appearing. "Mrs. Ross will take the point," Ross announced. He gave his sister-in-law a moment to retrieve her wand before he bid her to begin the second round.
Having retrieved her wand and recovered her wits, Dionisia smiled. She had always been one for practicality over flair, and her dueling showed it. She attempted to stun Roslyn, only feeling a little bad about it afterwards.
With a lead—albeit a small one—and no innate competitiveness driving a need to win, Ros decided she could risk being a little showy. As quickly as she could, the witch set about conjuring a stone wall to take the brunt of Dio's attack.
