Argus Scrimgeour, Father [1824-1888]Appearance: To her dismay, Minty has an identical twin with a ruined reputation. In her attempt to combat that, she has cut tiny Daphne Bridgerton bangs. Her hair is auburn and her eyes bright blue. She is tall (5'6'') but thankfully curvier than her twin, probably because she had had eleven years of priviledge while Bella was starving in some muggle slum. She's right handed.

Minty loves fashion and she's always one of the first to adopt the latest trends. She also loves wearing intricate hats and she hopes Witch Weekly picks it up so it becomes Her Thing and it's one thing people recognize her for which isn't being Bella Scimgeour's twin.
History:
- Childhood
- Araminta and Anabella are born to the Scrimgeour family. Unlike her twin, Minty is a quiet and angelic baby.
In January of 1869, while the twins are out for a walk with their nanny, Bella is kidnapped by a couple of petty muggle criminals. Even though Argus is literally a retired auror, they are unable to find her. Bella is assumed dead and Minty grows up as an only daughter, but the memory of her lost sister always lingers through her childhood, as everyone grows extremely protective of her. It is perhaps the result of this helicopter parenting that Minty has grown to be somewhat insecure and fearful of doing anything on her own.
Minty is rarely left on her own. Her mother freaks out whenever anything remotely negative happens to her. She freaks out even when Minty catches a small cold. Julius, her brother, is also very protective. Overall, she's somewhat infantilized by everyone in the family.
She displays her first sign of magic when she's six, by turning a pillow into a puppy. She was jealous that a friend had one, whereas her mother wouldn't get her one. Her mother, who was present at the time freaks out that the animal will maim Minty.
- Hogwarts: First Year (1880-1881)
- Minty departs for Hogwarts. She is very anxious because everyone's overprotectiveness has made her really scared of anything new and unfamiliar. To add to her anxiety, her sorting ceremony is dramatic to say the least. There is a girl who looks exactly like her. At first, Minty thinks she's hallucinating her, but the other firsties point it out. There's no doubt, she has to be her long lost twin!
The Hat sends her to Slytherin, Mama's old House, whereas Matilda Draper joins Julius in Gryffindor.
In the weeks to follow, Minty tries her best to be friendly to her twin. She finds the girl weird but since she is her twin it is in her best interest to fix her up a bit. She invites her to hang out with her upper class friends and shoots warning glares at anyone who tries to make Anabella uncomfortable. That being said, she gets second-hand embarrassment from Bella often. Couldn't she have been raised by rich muggles, at least? She cringes by Bella's accent and her slummy ways.
A little before the twins' twelth bithday, Minty's beloved grandmother dies. Even though the woman had had underlying health problems, Mama mentions in a letter that the shock of Bella's return killed her and she discusses that with her best friend. She's embarrassed when she realizes that Bella accidentally overheard them.
She tries her best to make Bella feel at home during the Christmas holidays. She even goes as far as to ask her about her adoptive family! However, Bella doesn't seem to appreciate her "Well, you're so lucky now that you don't have to live in poverty!" comments. The two girls just can't communicate no matter how Minty tries, because Minty feels like she's putting in all the effort while Bella is being weird and difficult. She feels as though Bella is looking down on her and the family.
The summer after their first year isn't any better. Bella keeps pushing Father's buttons, causing needless stress in the house. Couldn't she just stop being so difficult? Minty's strategy against her father's mood swings was to go with his flow and not cross him. She's annoyed by Bella's attempts at trying to be the revolutionary. Couldn't she see that she wasn't doing any good to herself by talking back to their parents?
Minty spends a lot of time ranting about her twin to Julius.
- Hogwarts: Third Year (1882-1883)
- Minty picks up Divination and Ancient Studies as her electives.
- Hogwarts: Fifth Year (1884-1885)
- Minty does reasonably well on her OWLs and she continues on with the following classes: Charms, Potions, History of Magic, Ancient Studies, Potions and Transfiguration.
- Summer of 1887
- The girls are debutantes now, though Bella lasts only a month by her side. Truth be told, Minty is rather relieved when Bella is sent to their aunt Laverna. Even though Bella's 'wild ways' are somewhat tampered, Minty still gets the occasional second hand embarassment from her twin. That and she is also somewhat jealous of Bella, because it seems to her that gentlemen are more interested in her than in Minty. Perhaps it was Bella's nonchalant air, whereas Minty is trying too hard to please.
- 1888
- Just as Minty is preparing for a second season (*sigh*), rumours start to appear about Bella's involvement with a famous rake, Reuben Crouch. This sends Father off the rails and he attacks Bella at their aunt's house. Bella is thought to be dead for a week, she isn't, but Father is still arrested. Minty resents her for that, though there is a part of her that is relieved that she won't have to live in fear of his terrible mood swings anymore, which had been a great source of anxiety for her.
Bella runs away from home and that results in her being disowned.
With all this scandal, Minty's second season is ruined and she doesn't even bother with it. She spends the entire summer crying and moping at home.
Father dies just ten days before her birthday and, even though he was harsh and difficult, Minty still loved him. - 1891
- Minty has had three unsuccessful Seasons and she's beginning to lose hope of ever securing an advantageous marriage, or a marriage at all!
Personality: Minty is a very chill person and she hates it when her peace is disrupted. She loves routine and hates surprises. She's somewhat predictable.
She dislikes confrontation, due to growing up with an emotionally unstable parent. She gets anxiety when there's tension around her. She's the sort to tear up if someone raises their voice at her. She's non confrontational, which makes her really passive agressive. She's the sort to shit-talk people behind their back and then be super cordial when talking to them.
Minty preaches things like "Elegance doesn't scream for attention", but the truth is that she loves attention. She loves it when people notice her and when she receives praise. She's prone to jealousy and she's quite insecure.
Minty has a dorky side and she's nerdy about everything involving history, art, literature, etc, but she represses this side of her as she believes that she has to appear perfect. As such, she tends to come off as rather boring when you first meet her.
