NEED A GOVERNESS?
Louisa is my new governess and I'd love to establish some connections for her! She is currently
Charity Lloyd's governess, but I'd still like to offer some other things too! Below you can find a brief of her skills, and then below that what I had in mind for some connections. As you'll read on, the below doesn't require a lot of threads (unless you'd like one of course!), but more connections than anything. Your character/character's parent would likely employ Louisa for the below if:
- they are UC/MC or WC with a sponsor
- they need a chaperone if their current one has a day off etc
- I'll probs add more but assume there's more here for the time being.
(I realize that IRL, governesses would likely be 1 to a household, but that doesn't make for good networking if we adhere to that so here we are)
GOVERNESS SKILLS
Language – Louisa is fluent in French, Italian and Spanish, and conversational in German and Russian.
Womanly Arts – Louisa is quite proper and expects all of her charges to remain the same while in her care. While a member of the middle class, she has excellent knowledge of the workings of the upper echelons of society which she passes onto all of her pupils regardless of class.
Music – She is quite skilled at the pianoforte, and even more enjoys teaching her pupils. Her favorite piece is Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.
Painting – She adores watercolors and often seeks to use it as a stress-relieving technique for her pupils.
Lady's Companion – Louisa might also be seen around the wizarding villages as a companion to the younger ladies who are out in society.
Summer Study Courses / Book Club – Should any students wish to continue their learning, Louisa offers to aid students during the summer. She also likes to host book clubs.
former pupils
Louisa and her family moved to Hogsmeade when it was established in 1877 and began work as a governess in 1879. She specializes in governing young students before they go off to Hogwarts, so I hope to form a list of some of her former students whose parents might have employed her before they go off to school! This doesn't necessarily mean we need to thread, but I'd like to keep a list for continuity purposes ^_^
summer tutoring
paid –– She offers tutoring for families who would like to see their children keep up their studies throughout the summer, which includes weekly tutoring or targeted practice on specific summer projects.
summer book club
free of charge –– Louisa loves to stay in touch with her former pupils (in fact she's probably more open and less strict to them than her current charges), and one way she likes to do that is during the summer, she likes to hold weekly meetings at a local location to talk about a book they've all collectively read (although these meetings tend to get off-topic and they chat about most things under the sun).
chaperone for hire
paid / free of charge –– need a chaperone for your debutante? I imagine that Louisa has built rather good connections, and if a chaperone has unexpectedly called out, Louisa can be called in or volunteered on her day off depending on her relationship with the family/her employers.

I will properly think about connections tomorrow but at the moment I want her and Connie to have a bitter rivalry in the summer over paid tutoring jobs.

@"Rosie Binns"'s youngest is in second year, and each of her children would likely be required to brush up during summer because this Slytherin mama likes her children staying sharp.
Also I headcanon that Rosie kept paying for more sporadic lessons for one @"Alina O'Malley", a friend of her youngest and a bright young girl that Rosie has taken an admiration for. She might also pop in for summer lessons when not working or helping at home.
I can also see
Sweetie Whitledge taking up some summer tutoring in hopes to better prepare for her dream job. (Cool w/ Handsome
Holly Scrimgeour?)
