History:
- 1862 – In mid-January, Henrietta gives birth to her first boy, Edmund, who joins his father Richard and elder sister Viola in the Parkinson family.
- 1865 – After a miscarriage in 1863, Henrietta manages to give birth to another healthy boy whom they name Thaddeus.
- 1866 – One year later, the final Parkinson, Martin, arrives. The pregnancy did not go fully smoothly however, and Henrietta took ill for some time afterwards. Luckily, she recovered and made a full turn around.
- 1867 – Edmund begins private tutelage, and as a result becomes fluent in French and German, as well as an adequate pianist.
- 1873 – Edmund receives his acceptance letter into Hogwarts, and without surprise is sorted into Slytherin – though he is disappointed that his three closest friends were sorted into the other houses.
- 1875 – Edmund adds Care of Magical Creatures, Ancient Studies and Ancient Runes to his class load.
- 1877 – When Edmund did not receive a prefect badge by owl, he was both gutted and frankly kind of outraged. He already knew he was ambitious, but in this moment he really learned just how ambitious he was. He vowed to himself then that he would be Head Boy, even though that would be hard without being a prefect first. Meanwhile, his family remain largely in London, though they do purchase a property in the new Hogsmeade as a separate country house.
- 1879 – His hard work paid off when he received notice by owl that he was going to be Head Boy this year. Ever since he didn’t get prefect, Edmund had undertaken a huge campaign with staff and threw himself into his studies, and thankfully his efforts did not go unnoticed.
- 1880 – Edmund graduates with great grades, and immediately takes up an internship in the Department of International Magical Co-Operation.
- 1881 – Edmund is shocked at the sudden election of 18 year old Darcy Potter to the Minister of Magic, and kicks himself for not having the balls to run himself at the age of 19. He also finishes his internship and becomes a full-fledged ministry employee.
- 1886 – As the position for the Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic vacates, Edmund applies, but is frustrated when he misses out on the role. He doubles down on his efforts at impressing his superiors, and is determined to keep his reputation as spotless as possible. At this point Edmund also began looking for a suitable wife, but as he has high standards for this lucrative alliance he keeps the search subtle and long term.
- 1887-8 – The Scrimgeour family is rocked with an explosive scandal, and Edmund immediately and ruthlessly cuts ties with Julius, one of his oldest friends from school. Luckily he manages to make the cut in time to save his own reputation, but he begins to wonder if whispers of that may have held him back in 1886.
- January 1890 – finally appointed to Assistant Head of the Department after the role was vacated in December 1889, and Edmund has begun his climb through the Ministry.
When Edmund needs to be, he is charming, suave, and can be quite manipulative. However, a certain level of snobbery will always seep through any attempt at a charm offensive – while he is a soft purist when it comes to blood purity (after all even half-bloods can be useful at times), he is a hard snob when it comes to class level. The rigid nature of Victorian society suits Edmund just fine.
He’s not a complete sociopath however. Marriage is an alliance, but he does expect that he will come to love his wife just as his father came to love his mother after their marriage began. And his ambitions of power is not just for the sake of power, he does genuinely believe that his ideas of how society should function are for the best of society.
Other:
- Edmund speaks four languages – English (native), French (non-native fluent), German (mostly fluent), and Spanish (conversational)
- He is single, but actively looking for a strategic marriage (i.e. an upper class pure-blooded woman of excellent standing)
