While not particularly striking, Cornelius has been able to make himself appear as such due to intensive grooming rituals. He stands at five feet, seven inches tall and has a healthy, athletic build. He dresses solely in muggle clothes, with the only robes he's ever worn being his school ones. He prefers darker colors, if only because he has a tendency to stain lighter-colored outfits when participating in hunting or other sports.History:
His hair is wavy and brown, and is usually cut in a fashionable style. His eyes are a similar shade and are framed by thick, straight brows. He has a fair complexion, though years of playing outdoors have tanned it ever-so-slightly. He wields his wand with his right hand.
1858 | Cornelius Sherington III is born to the muggle Cornelius Sherington II and his witch wife, Laurel Sherington. His birth is celebrated within the family, for he's not only a heir to a family, but a heir to the earldom. Despite the initial excitement, the celebrations are short-lived; the infant boy and his bother both suffer from intense chills during the months after childbirth, but both manage to survive.Personality:
1859 | Cornelius gets a sister, but he's too young to actually care.
1861 | His first sign of magic appears! It would be all fine and dandy, but the nanny he levitates is a muggle woman so there's that trouble to worry about, and it doesn't make his father any less wary about having married a witch in the first place.
1862 | Another sister is born, and Cornelius still doesn't care.
1863 | Cornelius recognizes true pain for the first time after watching his mother suffer emotionally after losing a child to miscarriage, but moves on from it fairly quickly and continues being the rambunctious child he is.
1866 | A brother is born, which is exceedingly more exciting than another sister.
1869 | Cornelius receives his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, which is less shocking for him since he'd already had his witch of a mother to warn him about impending formal magical education. His mother (not with his father, though, because he's still a little uncomfortable with the whole ~magic~ in the family thing) takes him to Diagon Alley, where he purchases his school supplies. In September, he boards the Hogwarts express and begins his education, but not before being sorted into Gryffindor.
1870 | The youngest and final Sherington daughter, Verity Sherington, is born while he's at school. He acknowledges her existence through letter, but shows no desire to see her.
1871 | Cornelius goes into his third year at Hogwarts and chooses to add Muggle Studies and Divination to his course load. Poor move. The latter is just absurd with its assumptions, which is something any man or woman with even menial scientific training would understand. The former is boring because it relays information he already knows.
1874 | Cornelius takes his OWLs without much ado and continue his education by keeping the following classes for his NEWTs: Astronomy, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, and Transfiguration. He notably loses his virginity during a Hogsmeade weekend to another female student in his year, and neither of them get caught (and luckily no pregnancies result from it!).
1876 | He graduates from Hogwarts and proceeds to do nothing of use for the entirety of the summer. "Nothing of use" doesn't mean nothing, though; he spends far too much time at muggle brothels and spending time with his muggle friends (which, in all reality, are family friends more than his own).
1880 | His father finally has enough of his bullshit after more than one women privately accuse Cornelius of fathering their bastard and sends him off to the village of Hillingham. Cornelius doesn't mind — a house of his own? Actual property? Yes please. And let's be real, there's still whores there, too.
1882 | An impromptu conversation with his father regarding his ~future~ reveals that Cornelius is somewhat expected to marry a muggle woman of nobility and have more half-magical, half-muggle children. He doesn't really know how he feels about that, seeing as he's already begun to enjoy having magical staff around his Hillingham home so he can use magic freely. He basically tells Daddy Sherington to fuck off in VE-appropriate terms and returns to his home. He doesn't think much about it until his father cuts his allowance.
1884 | After a visit to his father's estate and the surrounding village, Cornelius gets spooked when be comes face-to-face with a woman he'd once had an affair with... and her son, a little boy who displays remarkable resemblance to him. He stops the whoring (mostly), realizing the true damage to his reputation that could come if word ever left the village and made its way into the magical community.
1886 | In the midst of his never ending boredom, Cornelius decides he's going to write a book regarding relations between the struggle of growing up with magical and muggle relations.
1887 | Cornelius lives to be thirty years of age, which is both relieving and distressing. What is he supposed to do at thirty? Get married? Isn't his father scheduled to die soon so he can inherit and whatnot? Ugh.
Other:ADVENTUROUS. SPORTY. FUN-LOVING. CARING. GULLIBLE. AFFECTIONATE.
Notable elements of his personality:
Irresponsible | When it comes to things that he deems "unimportant", Cornelius doesn't seem to have a care in the world. He doesn't hesitate to push off responsibilities onto people he thinks can handle them. When he does care, he at least tries to put effort into his actions, though sometimes neglects responsibilities when they slip his mind.
PATRONUS
☛ A dark stallion. He couldn't produce one until he became comfortable with himself and his life situation during his mid-twenties.
LANGUAGE & SPEECH
☛ Cornelius can speak English and French fluently, and can read and passably write Latin. As a youth he was taught Italian and German, but lost most of his knowledge (except for a few basic conversational phrases) because of disuse.
LOVE & RELATIONSHIPS
☛ Cornelius used to be an awfully indiscreet manwhore, but his choice to sleep with muggle prostitutes rather than magical ones led to his indiscretions being kept out of the magical community's eyes. Nowadays he tends to be far more discreet and much less frequent with his trips to brothels.
☛ His ideal wife would a blonde witch, but his father would much rather see him married off to a muggle woman.
