SPRING 1865 | Gwyneth Esyllt is born to a working class Welsh family by the name of Davies. Her father was a farmer and her mother a midwife, and while finances were always a forefront concern, a practical sense of how to manage it ensured that the family's needs were more or less met.Personality:
YEAR OF 1867 | Emrys is born. Gwyn remembers little of this having been only two at the time.
YEAR OF 1870 | Rodric is born, proving to be the last child to be so. She does remember this birth, but more because of the disappointment she'd felt that he wasn't a sister.
YEAR OF 1871 | Her parents send her to the schoolhouse in the village where she receives a basic education.
YEAR OF 1872 | Gwyn displays her first act of magic by healing a wounded bird she'd come across while playing, magically healing its broken wing.
YEAR OF 1873 | Iefan is the first of the Davies children to leave for Hogwarts, and he departs in September where he was sorted into the ------ house. Her favorite brother, Gwyn had been saddened by his departure at first though she was quick to bounce back into her happy, energetic self afterward.
SUMMER OF 1876 | Gwyn receives her Hogwarts acceptance letter at the end of July. While a lot of her school supplies were Iefan's old hand-me-downs from his first year and her school robes had been cousin Amelia's after she'd grown out of them, Gwyn doesn't mind much. Her wand — a 12" Chesnut with Unicorn Tail Hair — had more than made up for it by being new and entirely her own.
FIRST YEAR (1876-1877) | To nobody's surprise (though Gryffindor had been a strong contender too), Gwyn was sorted into Hufflepuff upon arrival to school. An energetic and social child, Gwyn had settled in easily into boarding school life and had made many friends in her first year — including Atticus Lilywick, a Gryffindor, who ended up becoming one of her best friends. Academically, while she wasn't the most studious of pupils, though she tries to get good grades, knowing that her chance to continue being at Hogwarts was dependent on how well she did in her studies. She excels in Charms, Herbology, and Potions — likely due to her prior knowledge of these subjects beforehand — though does abysmally in History of Magic.
SUMMER OF 1877 | Gwyn becomes interested in her mother's midwifery profession and begins to shadow her work, offering her help with prenatal visits and the occasional birth.
SECOND YEAR (1877-1878) | At Atti's insistence, she tries out for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team as a Chaser, though she does not make the roster. She's disappointed, but not devastated about it, and instead, joins Flying Club soon after. While Quidditch is fun, and she's a willing and adequate participant in her brothers' (and Atti's) games during the holidays, flying for leisurely reasons was far more her speed. Atti, however, does make it onto the Gryffindor team as a Beater, she made sure to be at every game cheering him on loudly.
SUMMER OF 1878 | Iefan decides to leaves after his OWLs to help work the farm as their father's health was failing.
THIRD YEAR (1878-1879) | She adds Care of Magical Creatures and Earth Magic to her OWL class roster.
FOURTH YEAR (1879-1880 | Gwyn wakes up one night before the Easter holidays to discover that she had started her monthlies. Her mother being a midwife, Gwyn wasn't terribly shocked by the arrival, but she does find it highly inconvenient.
FIFTH YEAR (1880-1881) | Near the Christmas holidays of 1880, Gwyn's life is changed when her father died having suffered from prolonged illness for many years. Her older brother inherits the farm, and while it had been an expected thing, it was still a strange transition to get used to anyway.
SUMMER OF 1881 | Gwyn also decides to leave after her OWLs. With her grades, she could have comfortably continued on to NEWT studies, but ultimately decided that her family needed her more. At the end of the summer, she joined the Mediwitch program at St. Mungo's in order to help out financially. Despite her leaving, she always made sure to stay in touch with Atti, living her NEWT years vicariously through him, and always ensured that he had a place to stay during the summers, knowing how difficult home life was for him.
Rodric, her youngest brother, leaves for Hogwarts at the end of the summer.
YEARS 1881-1886 | While she had gone into Mediwitching for the money, Gwyn surprises herself by truly coming to enjoy the work too. With her upbringing and prior healing knowledge, the job was an opportunity to finally put her skills into practice. So while it was often stressful, at times chaotic, and definitely not for the faint of heart, she enjoys it anyway and also finds in her work a sense of purpose.
In summer of 1883, Atti graduates, and to no one's surprise, goes into professional Quidditch. His dreams of playing professionally were dashed, however, when in 1886, a splinching accident saw him sustain permanent damage to his right bicep, ending his Quidditch career. Fortunately, the accident hadn't seemed to dampen is good humor nor hinder his prospects in other areas, and Gwyn had been excited when he joined the Hogwarts staff as Referee and Flight Instructor. It was perfect for him, really.
In the summer of 1885, her brother Emrys graduated from Hogwarts, the first (and only) of the Davies children to obtain a full set of NEWTs. He goes into an appropriate job for his skills and education level. Rodric follows the year after, having decided to only complete his OWLs.
YEAR OF 1888 | Iefan announces his engagement to Miss ------ ------, a girl from their village, at the beginning of the year, getting married in the summer. His wife is pregnant by the next year. Gwyn is happy for her brother, but a little lonely for herself, feeling stagnant in her situation. She begins contemplating moving out of her childhood home.
YEAR OF 1890-PRESENT | After a year of planning and saving, Gwyn moves to Irvingly in April of 1890, having accumulated enough of her savings to comfortably rent out a little house in Swallowbury District. It's not much, a little run-down in some places, but with a little fixing up it was sure to be a cozy place before too long. Besides, the main thing, after all, was that it was entirely hers.
