Appearance: Ben has always heavily favoured his father's looks. He possesses the same dark hair, kept reasonably neat, and grey-blue eyes, framed with a pair of simple glasses, having inherited the poor eyesight of his grandfather. Ben is not particularly tall, standing at a flat five feet, five inches, and has more or less given up on reaching his father’s impressive height. His is still the wiry build of a boy, and he despairs he may never fill out into the body of a man. He cares not at all for clothing, dressing primarily in robes and whatever Aunt Hope chooses for him. He is right-handed.
History: 1870 | A child is finally born to Woodrow and Vivian Turner, a boy that they call Benjamin. Initially, Ben proves to be a sickly child, and will have bouts of illness—though not so severe as in his earliest months—throughout his childhood.
1871 | Woodrow fathers a bastard on the housemaid, who is born some months after Ben and given the same (well, more or less) name and becomes something of a ‘backup’. Though Ben, in the years to come, does not particularly dwell upon this fact, the knowledge that his half-brother could prove a replacement someday lurks at the back of his mind, waiting for a day when it might finally concern him.
1875 | In June, Ben finally shows his first signs of magic, inadvertently lighting a book on fire when his mother is ‘too distraught’ to read to him.
1877 | The family relocates to Hogsmeade.
1881 | For Ben’s eleventh birthday, he’s gifted an owl who he dubs Commodore Perry.
1882 | Aunt Hope moves in. During wand shopping, Vivian has a bit of a fit in the shop and upsets everyone #ClassicViv. The boys depart for Hogwarts in the fall, with Ben sorted into Ravenclaw and Benji into Gryffindor. That December, after what will ever be considered The Worst Christmas Ever, Benjamin's mother is sent to the asylum. He sees this as evidence that his father prefers Benji, and so makes up his mind to hate the both of them.
1883 | Ben’s mother tragically breaks her neck and dies. Fortuantely (unfortunately?) death is not the end and she lingers on as a ghost.
1884 | Ben’s father dies of the laughing sickness—Ben will forever regret not forgiving him before he passed. With Aunt Hope hardly in good health and his mother technically dead, reluctant bachelor Uncle Luther is brought in as his guardian.
Luther both turns out the maid and her illegitimate offspring and spends as little time with the family as possible, and Ben sees it as his duty to care for his aunt and mother’s spirit. In the fall, Ben adds muggle studies and ancient studies to his academic roster.
1885 | In a bid to be less bookish, Ben tries out for the quidditch team. He falls during the tryouts and breaks his arm.
1886 | Ben has a new accessory accompanying his return to Hogwarts: a prefect’s badge.
1887 | His inability to deal with uncomfortable situations rears its ugly head when Delight’s sister becomes a werewolf and he avoids her rather than helping her through it.
