Did You Know?
Queen Victoria was known for putting jackets and dresses on her pups, causing clothing for dogs to become so popular that fashion houses for just dog clothes started popping up all over Paris. — Fox
It would be easy to assume that Evangeline came to the Lady Morgana only to pick fights. That wasn't true at all. They also had very good biscuits.

How had he gotten dragged into this again?

"You will start with an Antidote to Uncommon Poisons." Phineas drawled at the students before him, poised with their cauldrons and ingredients ready. "Do not disappoint." He added for good measure.

This was awful.

Lord help her, the headmaster was judging her group. If Minerva had not been nervous before, she certainly was! She could feel her hands trembling as she measured her ingredients, hear her heartbeat pounding in her ears as she stirred her cauldron. After what seemed like not one lifetime but nine, the Gryffindor raised a tentative hand to signal completion of her antidote to uncommon poisons.

Her heart sank as she realized she was the first one done. Plainly she had made some sort of fatal error—and Headmaster Black would know!

Harrison was hardly phased over the fact the headmaster was conducting his first round. Though potions was far from his best subject, he was more than confident in his abilities. He was pretty phenomenal at everything he did after so.

With a cheeky grin and squared shoulders, he indicated when he was finished with his poison antidote by a raised hand. The freckle faced boy even went so far as to wink at the going woman who beat him at being first by a few mere seconds.

There was certainly a quality of potion that might indeed qualify as "perfect", but Frida was not sure if even that would earn the headmaster's praise. Surrounded by other fifth years—two prefects and a cousin of hers among them—Frida could not help but silently compare herself to them. She was good at potions, sure, but she did not always bode well under pressure. It was only last year that Sage had defeated her in their group, and she was not confident that she could defeat him this time.

She brewed her potion silently, nervously glancing up at the headmaster with every move she made. He was a former Potions professor himself, she remembered, and surely would turn his nose up if he noticed a competitor making a wrong move!

She stepped away after she finished, silently praying to Merlin—along with the God that Miss Fairchild worshiped for good measure—that she would not fail so terribly.

Sage always enjoyed anything to do with Potions so it had been a given that he would sign up for this. His cousin Frida was here  as well and he did wonder how she would fare. Working at a measured pace and making sure everything was exactly precise, he was not surprised that he was not the first to complete his potion. Once he had finished, he signaled that he was done and waited for the results of their bracket.

Potions was likely her best subject or at the very least it was the one Beatrix occasionally bothered to pay attention in, so the antidote was known to her. Not from school of course, but still.

She collected her ingredients, resisting the urge to barge Frida out of the way as she did, and set about mixing her antidote. When it was done she took a step back and glanced up at the Headmaster with indifference to his presence.

Well, nothing had been blown up, at least there was that. They were passable too, what a shocker. "I'm afraid Mr. Vance and Miss Nightly will not be moving on." He sighed, though he wasn't really afraid or sorry for it at all. Clearly Miss Nightly could have taken greater care instead of finishing first and Mr. Vance was far too cocky for his own good.

"The rest of you will continue with a Wit Sharpening Potion. Begin." How much longer could this possibly take? Phineas already felt a headache coming on.

Trix stifled a smirk as she watched her competitors thin down though it was a tad irritating that Vance hadn't managed to advance too - she was far from being filled to the brim with house pride but would much rather they received points than the other houses did. And it was getting points from the Headmaster, technically, even if he had no choice, and that was certainly something worth bragging over.

Diligently she set to work on her wit- sharpening potion, decided very quickly that it was the sort of thing that ought to be passed out to all the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs daily, and privately felt pleased with herself that the Headmaster might like her train of thought. Once finished she stepped back, keeping her gaze firmly off the Headmaster, though her mind was certainly on him.

Sage was pleased to have moved forward to the next bracket and he felt a tinge of family pride that Frida had done so as well. Getting started on the wit-sharpening potion that they had been bid to create, Sage raised his hand once he had finished. He was looking forward to seeing how either he and Frida did this time around.

With three prefects from their fifth year—her included—remaining, Frida could not help but feel a sense of obligation to make Hufflepuff proud. They were so often underestimated, teased, and demeaned for their sorting, and despite being stereotyped as a hardworking bunch, few considered them an inherently intelligent house.

She nervously brewed her wit-sharpening potion, making sure to take deep breaths with every stir of her cauldron. The last thing she wanted was to faint with the headmaster watching!

Phineas dismissed Miss Lestrange- a pity the girl landing in Hufflepuff- with a wave of his hand followed by a wave of his wand to clear out the last potions.

"You may begin a Girding Potion." He said with a quirked eyebrow.

Frida had gotten eliminated, which was mildly disappointing. If he was to lose, he'd rather it to be to his cousin but either way, it didn't matter overly much. Beginning his potion, he worked step by step, each one precise as his method was always to be methodical. He was the first to finish which he hoped did not tarnish his chances. Working a potion too quickly could cause mishaps. Signaling that he was done, he waited silently for Miss Borgin to also finish so that judgement on their potions could be made.

Trixie had never doubted she would reach this point and she smiled smugly to herself as she set about making her third potion of the day, one that was frequently requested in the shop and always made her mother roll her eyes. Once finished she ignored Macnair, Slytherin or not he was shorter than her so clearly deficient, and waited for the Headmaster to make his final judgement.

Pity for Mr. Macnair to lose to the working class. Miss Borgin wins." He said without any ado. Was this over yet?
