Jeremiah had heard about these things when studying about ancient muggle cultures… but he couldn’t recall what it was. History wasn’t his best focus. He was more of a researcher of modern culture. “Perhaps it would be best if we tried studying it without touching it. Even if we can’t touch it, there could be something useful about this urn.” He commented.

Mr. Kirke is transfigured into a little black cat with little fanfare. Mew.

Belle let out an involuntary yelp of surprise at the sudden transformation and then immediately felt her cheek flush with embarrassment - had it really been so long without magic that she was startled by it? That was depressing. But it was hardly something she could dwell on. Taking a slow step forward, releasing Mr Byrne as she did, Belle crouched down to get a better look at the cat.

"I think the moment might have passed for visual examination."

At least cats were revered by the Egyptians: that was probably a small consolation for Mr Kirke but she idly wondered whether he might be more use to them as a cat. In the nicest possible way.

Finnian nodded solemnly at Mrs. Bones' remark. The only comfort was knowing that, upon returning back to the Ministry, he'd be able to tell his coworkers that he wasn't the most foolish of the bunch—objectively speaking. Then again, he also hadn't gone and got himself bitten in half by a crocodile, or charged by a water buffalo.

Surprisingly, he'd done well.

"Should we, you know, pick him up and take him along?" he asked awkwardly, his gaze shifting between between Mrs. Bones, the professor, and the stranger whose name he hadn't bothered to gather. "Or would touching him - I don't know - turn me into a cat? Maybe the master plan is to turn everyone turn into cats through chain cat-touching."

"You're awfully worried," Tyb started, for someone who's already accepted imminent death - only, he was prevented from finishing his sentence by the feeling of his whole body being abruptly sucked in on itself and molecularly rearranged. Everything felt squished and uncomfortable, and suddenly the passageway looked a great deal vaster. Tyb peered at the stone ceiling, then dazedly down to his furry black paws.

He glanced over his shoulder, and waved his tail at himself. Hmm.

Just about everyone had told him not to touch it, but... well. At least they knew what it did?

Should we, you know, pick him up and take him along? The scaredy-cat-man was asking. Tyb mewled at that in protest, and pranced about a bit with his front paws, as if to illustrate that he could walk perfectly well still, himself. The four-legged thing might take some getting used to, admittedly.

...Not that he planned on being a cat long enough to get used to it. Merlin, they really needed magic back now.

Jeremiah watched with slight horror as the man turned into a cat. Well, that wasn't something one did every day. But it was magic. "He has... four working legs. Perhaps it would be best if we kept an eye on him and let him walk for himself." He replied.

Looking between the cat man and the urn that had transformed him, Jeremiah thought for a moment about this. "We've been seeing magic this entire time even in the fog. I suggest we try seeing if our magic might work. At least while we are in this casino." He stated thoughtfully. Though, what were they going to test this theory on?

That definitely was good, Asha noted as Kirke changed into a cat. He had been a great deal fonder of Kirke than the others they had stumbled into, perhaps beside they were the only ones who had remained after that whole mess with the boils. "I believe he would be content to trot along." Asha put forward picking up Kirke's pack.

They might have magic back, that was something to be considered. "Let's find out." He fished out his wand and muttered "Lumos." Hoping it worked, as simple a smell as it was.

Jeremiah smiled. Brilliant! A new advantage for all of them. Searching through his memory, he tried to think of the spell for turning one back from being an animal. "Anyone recall how to turn a person back into a human?" He asked. Transfiguration hadn't been his top subject, nor one that he had practiced periodically.

"Well that's a sight for sore eyes," Belle said with a smile at the light emanating from Mr Bilton's wand, still crouched down and taking the opportunity to reach out to Mr Kirke. He might still be able to walk but he was small enough that they might lose track of him if they had to flee a boulder and she would not leave anybody else behind, cat ears or not.

"Do you think we should try levitating the urn out of here to see how far the magic spreads first?" She suggested, glancing between the mysterious urn and the man it had reduced to paws and whiskers. "If anything backfires I'd rather lose that thing than Mr Kirke lose his life."

Asha had only been without magic for a few weeks, but watching his wand actually do something to him was the most exciting thing he’d seen in years! He stared at the end of the wand like it was the first time he’d done magic. “Well that answers that.

Then came the problem of Kirke before them. “Er. No.” He’d only made it to his third year and was fairly certain they had never learned about turning into animals at that point. Match to a needle, yes. Cat to a human, no.

The lady's plan made sense too and he nodded. Levitate an object was something he could do. "Wingardum Leviosa." He aimed at the statue and directed it down the hallway.

He had just about managed to convince them of his capabilities of walking when they figured out that magic worked after all, and talk turned to transfiguration. Tyb arched his back in disapproval of that idea, not trusting any of them not to see him left with a cat head or tail eternally, and instead padded over to the woman, who seemed sensible enough that he'd forgo his dignity and be carried, if it came to it. If all else failed, the life of a cat wouldn't be so bad, would it? He wouldn't be much of a quidditch player, but at least he'd never have to get a real job, either. He could still see Elsie, even, he supposed, picturing himself laying inconveniently across an open book in her lap and being petted between the ears. He'd make a good cat, really. One might say Tybalt would make the prince of cats.

Even a future as a cat depended on them all getting out of here, though.

Elsewhere in the building, something happens. It is as if a quake hits the pyramid, which trembles, and then the limestone walls of the pyramid fade into the wallpapered walls of a casino hallway. The cat statue lies on the ground.

Outside, the fog is vanishing. The group may hear the front doors opening as Ministry officials in MA&C robes rush the building.

When they are brought into the Ministry for their statements, (well, ideally after a professional of some sort reverses Mr. Kirke's predicament), Group A will find that nearly a month has passed since they entered the casino.
