Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Optional Apparition License exam

Professor Bowen waited for the students to file in and make an orderly line before speaking, the session was under exam conditions so it was unusually quiet for a class of teenagers. "Good morning students. Welcome to your apparition exams. I am here as a school observer and to offer any assistance if necessary, but I wanted to say a few words before I hand you over to Mr Burton." She gestured to a man in a ministry suit that some would recognise as their apparition instructor's boss. "Legal apparition is possibly the most liberating thing you will earn since someone once told you "That's not just for sweeping" So good luck everybody, and try not to get splinched." she nodded politely and stepped backwards.

The gentleman from the ministry stepped forward in her place, he was a man who looked a little older than he probably was, having wisps of white hair sticking out from underneath a short hat, a small pair of lensed spectacles balanced on the end of his nose and he looked through them as he read through his notes. The first part was a formality, repeating the laws regarding apparition, and the potential penalties if they were caught misusing the spell. It was all quite dry stuff to begin with and Isla found herself scanning the students to make sure everyone was paying proper attention. The rules of the exam were strict, even the smallest of splinching and you would fail and be forced to try again at the next opportunity.

There would be multiple stages examined by Mr Burton the first being an understanding of the basics of the spell, then subsequently the students would be tested on their practical application, this would be the fun, albeit risky part of the exam. If the students allowed their nerves to interfere with their destination, determination or deliberation, then failure was a real possibility. The students would be invited to proceed in order.

Optional for those who want to leave their success up to the dice?

Benedict thanked his lucky stars for the absolutely charming calendar that placed this exam the day after his seventeenth birthday, if he succeeded he would count it amongst the best birthday gifts. He had never been much for broom riding. He could do it of course, but he just found that his hair would be so ruffled and his attire distressed that he couldn't imagine turning up to a lady in the future after a jaunt on a broom. Apparition on the other hand, he looked forward to that, and now that he could legally cast magic outside of school the world was his oyster. This summer should prove to be quite fun once they all have a few weeks off of school to explore their freedoms a bit before their final year.

"Thank you Mr. Burton. Professor Bowen. He said politely before taking his place for the exam. He expected this to be a noisy cast, no delicate pop like he had heard the professor make, not the gentle rustle of pages like he and Millie had decided her apparate would make. No, his dogwood wand was noisy at the best of times.

He whipped it out and cast the spell, hoping for the best, he had practised so much, and he felt confident today was his day..
