Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

February 22nd, 1895 — Edgar's flat
Newland Selden was big on family, and so Morrigan was in Irvingly on an errand today. Edgar was to be invited to Sunday dinner, as he had been invited every week since moving to Britain. Normally Newland sent a letter on Saturday. Today, Morrigan had offered to deliver the invitation personally, saying that she wanted to check out Edgar's new lodgings.

"You look settled in," Morrigan said mildly, after stepping out of the floo. Between the furniture and the existence of the flat at all, it was clear to her — Edgar intended on being here for a while. She just did not understand why.

Edgar had officially been in Britain for two months now, and he thought he'd settled about as well as anyone could expect to in that amount of time. He hadn't made any real progress, but he had a flat and was making contacts for work, and that was nonetheless something.

And, of course, there was the close proximity to family. "As settled as one can be, I suppose," Edgar said to Mor as she arrived. It was certainly true enough.

"Do you think you'll be staying for a while?" Mor asked. Her tone was innocent, but this was the crux of her visit — if Edgar was renting space, then he was spending real time here, another Selden (close enough) that had apparently abandoned America for Great Britain.

"Most likely," Edgar said. "I haven't decided how long exactly, but I wasn't planning on a short visit." He had work to do, after all--both of the personal and professional kind.

"How exciting," Morrigan said. She sat down on one of his armchairs, which still had the rigidity of new-ish furniture. "You should really start adding weekly Sunday dinner to your regular schedule — my father asked me to invite you when I was here."
