Appearance: Mabel is of an average height of five feet and five inches. She is curvey and several stones heavier than her friends, but she carries herself with a confident bearing. She holds nothing back in her smiles and they often reach her brown almond-shaped eyes, crinkling them with mirth and causing her to look like she is squinting. Her black hair is long, sleek, and falls down to her waist but she absolutely adores playing with it and was often found in school with different colored hair as she tried things out with her favorite spell, Crinus Muto.
Mabel would not be caught dead in anything but the most fashionable clothing, she prefers muggle gowns designed in Paris above all else and even has a servant sent to Paris every spring to commission the newest fashionable gowns each year. She wears a perfume designed just for her, a mix of vanilla, orchids, and a hint of spice. Beyond demanding the best in fashion, Mabel has an impressive array of jewelry and assessory and is often sporting rare gems and metals as if they were nothing more than flower crowns she had braided out of wildflowers.
Mabel's bearing is confident, leading to graceful but broad movements. She is often attracting attention to herself with her large gestures and enthusiasm that seems to pour from her when she is excited. Especially when casting a spell with her right hand, her wand hand.

History:When Mabel was born she was the only surviving child of her parents. Her father had made his fortune in enchanted steel in America. He married his young British wife when she came over from England for a visit. It was a summer romance, and one that Mabel envies. But in the years after their marriage the couple suffered tragedy after tragedy in their personal lives. Fiscally they only continued to rise and rise. So when at last baby Mabel survived after a string of misscarriages and infant deaths, she was dotted upon. Anyone who looked at the healthy hearty baby could tell that Mabel was not made to leave the world, but rather to leave her mark on it. She was loud, opinionated, and undaunted even as a baby. Her mother coddled her, unconsciously giving up her dreams of raising a polite little British girl, in favor of raising a child in general. Her father was altogether enamored with Mabel and her bright ways. And so Mabel was coddled from the very first.
When she was four years old, her parents claiming her precocious nature, Mabel lit up the world in a series of bright fireworks at a dinner party her parents had had nanny come show her off at. As she was being led back to the nursery Mabel displayed her first sign of magic, fireworks launching into the sky with magnificent speed and glamor. Her parents were so awed and excited by this that she was allowed to stay at the party until she finally fell asleep in nanny’s arms on a bench some time later that night.
By the time she was five her parents had hired a bevy of tutors for her, her mother implementing every subject she felt her daughter would need to get along in decent society (i.e. where she had grown up). While lessons weren’t her favorite - she did enjoy dancing and playing the piano - she muddled along. Anything she asked for she was given - except an end to the lessons.
When Mabel finally was of an age to attend Illvermony she was sorted into Thunder Bird. She finally was able to spread her wings, or so she felt. She loved every moment of her classes. It wasn’t long before she had formed a posey of girls around her. Her years at school are wonderful, she finds enjoyment in charms and transfiguration but despairs in ever being able to identify a plant or make a proper potion. Before she knows it she graduates. At her mother’s insistence she attends finishing school the following year, convincing her friends Zenobia and Sutton to attend with her.
At last Mabel is unleashed, errr, debuted into society in a lavish ball hosted at their mansion in the most fashionable part of New York. She doesn’t take the season seriously at all, imagining she shall never fall in love. Especially since she’s either snubbed by old money or chased after by those who’d rather be new money than no money.
Unbeknownst to her her mother begins despairing at her bold stubborn headed daughter and is invited back home by her aunt. Mabel refuses to go without her friends and as such convinces her parents to allow her friends to travel with her. And so it is in that Mabel Whysper arrives on the scene with less than a whisper and more of a shout in the summer of 1894.
