Fiona has always been rather small. Not only is she quite petite, standing at only four foot eight inches, but she also has a rather delicate appearance. Her golden blonde hair frames a round, thin face, with grey eyes, a small nose, and thin lips. Her style of dress is more practical than fashionable, with her wardrobe consisting of more than its fair share of work clothes--garments she can garden in.History:
Born the only child of Thomas and Melanie Little, Fiona led a fairly quiet childhood. Her parents had tried for years to have children before she finally came along, and after the great difficulty Mrs. Little had throughout her pregnancy and especially in the delivery of her only child, it was thought wisest that they not try for more.Personality:
Fiona was a nervous sort of child, though no one was quite sure why. Prone to anxiety, the girl often seemed to be afraid of her own shadow. She always seemed to need soothing, though as Fiona got a bit older, she learned to hide this as best as she could, since it always seemed to put a strain on her parents, which in turn made her feel worse--a vicious, never ending cycle. She found solace in quiet activities, becoming an avid reader of whatever books were considered suitable for young ladies, and gained a love of plants while helping her mother in their garden.
At Hogwarts, Fiona was sorted into Hufflepuff, and soon found that her niche in the Herbology greenhouses. Plants were simple, easy, and had a way of calming her that most other things in the girl's life weren't able to. She did well in school in general, thanks in part to an almost compulsive need for orderliness in her life, and for other to see her as competent, even if she didn't always feel that way.
During her time at Hogwarts, Fiona discovered a perhaps unexpected talent. She found that she was rather capable at healing spells. There was something about handling other people's troubles that allows her to focus on something besides the turmoil that is sometimes her own mind. Discovering that she is rather competent in this area gave the witch confidence, if just enough. Her NEWTs results are mostly O's and E's--not nearly enough O's for Fiona's preference, but enough to satisfy most.
When she left school, there was the question of a season. There wasn't really enough money to do it properly, and honestly, the Littles weren't sure it was the best idea for their daughter--she just didn't do well in crowds of people she didn't know. Hogwarts had been difficult enough. The family had moved to Hogsmeade Village in early 1878, hoping that perhaps alleviating the strain of hiding their magic in their native Surrey would make things easier, and to an extent, it has. Fiona has felt well enough to seek employment at the hospital in Hogsmeade, first as an intern, and then as a full healer in the Potion and Plant Poisioning ward, finding that burying herself in her work helped her to focus, and for awhile, she was quite content with the way things were.
It was not all peace, though. Fiona's father was killed in an explosion at the Ministry in 1885, and devastated, she and her mother moved to London to be closer to Melanie's natal family. Fiona continued working at Hogsmeade Hospital and losing herself in her own hobbies in her limited downtime. That said, being a healer, though rewarding and, frankly, Fi's only true aspiration, is hardly stress-free, and it has left her little time for anything else she might have thought to do with her life. In the summer of 1892, with her thirtieth birthday looming and more than a decade at the hospital behind her, Fiona decided to apply for the nurse position at Hogwarts. Caring for children came with its own challenges, but at least it's in a less... fraught environment.
