Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1893. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Discovered today that spotted dick is a pudding with raisins in it. But more importantly that "dick" was the victorian word for pudding. — Fallin
His sister and her group were not yet performing, however. Instead it was a plain looking young woman that he did not recognize. She seemed to believe she was singing. — Rupert BinghaminMy Idea of Fun
It always felt good to see people enjoying the results of ones hard work. Josiah and a few others had cleared off a large portion of the surface of Lake Greer. The usual booth used for renting out blades to affix to ones shoes was set up as well as the hot chocolate booth. Everything had come together rather easily and now Josiah was left to enjoy the festivities. He had enjoyed a mug of hot cholate and now he was on the ice. The bonfire on the shore was roaring beautifully and Josiah waved at a friend or two standing nearby it.
Isis was good with water - she had been literally born to it, she had long thought herself to be a truly an adept to water in all of it's forms. So when Mister Gibbs had suggested they go to the ice skating, Isis couldn't think of a single reason to say no. However, as soon as she stepped onto the ice she realised the mistake she had made. Apparently, frozen water hated her and wanted to snap her neck.
She made it 1 circuit of the lake before she properly lost her balance, and not just the ungainly stumbles she had been managing. She crashed bodily into an unfortunate person, who was serving the job right now of stopping her from continuing her chaotic path around the frozen lake.
'Sorry!' she muttered angrily, trying to gather herself and regain something of her dignity. There were times that she wished the wand in her pocket actually did something, because it would have been satisfying to blast them through the ice.
Josiah had not been expecting to find himself collided with. A quite bodily too. It was likely only due to his tall stature that they did not end up toppling down to the icy surface. He did have the wind knocked out of him a bit, though. Once he got his bearings back, he did his best to try and help the young woman find some sort of balance.
She sounded angry at him and Josiah, sensitive soul that he was, was quite unsure of how to further handle the situation. "It is quite all right. As long as you are not hurt?" His shy voice murmured as he began to try and guide her to the edge where an unseasoned skater would find some purchase with snow drifts.
Isis was a tall woman, and it was rare for her to feel 'dwarfed' by anyone she met but even she was a little taken aback by the height of the gentleman before her, as she was forced to crane her neck upwards to meet his gaze. Her surprise recovering her pride enough for her to recover her manners. 'Sorry' she said sheepishly, she tried to push herself back to independent standing but her legs failed to find their balance and her feet scrabbled for purchase. She grabbed the mans arm again to stop herself from falling.
She was left standing at a rather awkward angle, not daring to move lest she fall. 'Not hurt' she confirmed, 'Just feeling foolish' she managed with a self deprecating smile. 'I didn't trample you - did I?' she grumped, her tone clearly not thrilled at being less than capable at skating. She was sure her sea legs should have made her good at this, even if her desert origins made her, like her ancestors, much less familiar with large expanses of frozen water than her Scottish neighbors. 'I dont know why I thought this was a good idea.'
Josiah watched as the woman tried to push herself bacj but instead ended up grabbing him again. His cheeks flushed a little at the contact. Not to mention how awkward the situation was in general.
"No, you didn't. I am quite all right," he assured with a shy smile as the woman asked if she had trampled him. "It can be fun once you get the hang of it."
