Given the type of business the girls were in under his employ Edgar was surprised it hadn't happened far sooner. Now that he was aware, or more accurately, his alias Leon, he knew steps would need to be taken. For the last week or so he considered many options, from simply turning the girl out and let her deal with her condition on her own to various not so legal things he could do with the child once born. In the end he decided to take the more ethical path.

After a bit of discreet inquires and word of mouth he found a reliable midwife to contact. Whether she would be willing to work discreetly and outside of St. Mungos remained to be seen. Time to find out if he'll have to resort to his second choice.

Dear Miss Moony:

We are not acquainted but I have need of your skills as a midwife. The request isn't for me personally but for a friend who has found herself in need. On her behave I'm reaching out to you to request your discreet service.

For reasons I prefer not to get into the young woman in question isn't able to come to St. Mungos to see you. Thus, it'll be necessary for you to come to her place of residence, the location of which I'll divulge once you agree to certain conditions.

If you are willing to ply your midwife talents under these conditions please let me know asap. The owl who brought this letter will wait for your response.

Yours in confidence,

Leon Bunyip

Fortunately for you, I do not work for the hospital, nor am I affiliated with it in any way, aside from a few close friends who do work there. My entire occupation consists of home visits.

I must admit however that without more information, I will be unable to assist you. Discretion I can easily provide, for the proper compensation, but the nature of my life's work does not do well without all of the facts. I assume your friend's condition means she is with child. Is she close to ready to deliver? Is she experiencing problems? Does she wish to end an early pregnancy?

If you wish to solicit my talents, I will need a little bit more from you; it will be up to you.
Respectfully,
Miss Bronwyn Moony

Miss Bronwyn Moony:

Thank you for your prompt response, I'll do my best to alleviate your concerns. It pleases me to learn you aren't affiliates with St. Mungos, not that I have anything against them on a personal level.

The young woman in question, according to what she's told me, suspects she's been with child for several months. Nor does she wish to end the pregnancy despite my advice it would be better for her in the long run if she does. As I don't wish to force my views upon the girl, I accepted her choice. To avoid any misunderstandings, I wish to make it clear I'm not the father.

To my knowledge she isn't experiencing any difficulty, when I put the question to her she replied she was fine. Her friends however tell me she vomits regularly especially in the morning and around certain foods. I'm no expert on pregnancies but I'm told this is typical. I'll leave it up to you to judge.

If you have further questions feel free to send them my way. Or, if you feel it's necessary, I can arrange for you to meet with the young woman in question and you can question her freely.

Yours in confidence,

Leon Bunyip

It sounds as though an exam would benefit her. If discretion is what you seek, I can come to her at her place of residence, which would certainly be easiest as I have no office of my own and is generally how I operate. The floo is easiest, if that works for all parties involved.

If it is morning sickness plaguing her, peppermint tea or adding ginger to her tea should help ease the nausea. Small meals often, especially in the morning will also help. Plain foods such as toast or crackers will do the trick. It is quite normal, though does tend to ease by halfway through. I will be able to determine how far along she is during the exam.

Please let me know what you prefer.
Respectfully,
Miss Bronwyn Moony

Miss Bronwyn Moony:

I agree it would be best for you to visit with the lady in question and examine her personally. There may be things she feels uncomfortable talking to me about but would be more open towards another woman, especially one who's an expert on such matters. Early evenings work best for a visit, but if this time is inconvenient for you send me your preferred hours and I'll do my best to accommodate. While I'm thinking about it, would you need a carriage to bring you to the lady's home once a time and day is decided? I will be happy to arrange one for you and see to your protection.

Your recommendations to help deal with morning sickness was well received and has had positive results. It's too early to say if this was all that would be needed at this time.

Yours in confidence;

Certainly not a problem. Payment will be due upon conclusion of the appointment. If the Floo is not an option, a carriage will work find. Is there a specific place I should wait for it? I mainly work around London and Hogsmeade, but can get to Irvingly easily enough as well.

I'm glad to hear the sickness has eased, please let me know if she experiences any other difficulties or discomfort.
Respectfully,
Miss Bronwyn Moony

Miss Bronwyn Moony:

Payment at the conclusion of the appointment is perfectly reasonable and will be arranged. The Floo unfortunately isn't an option, the lady in question's residence is not connected to the Floo Network. A carriage will be sent to your address or a place of your chosen the day of the appointment and it will return you home afterwards (or drop you off wherever you wish, if you have other appointments following, at your convenience.)

Below I shall list several appointment times, let me know which one suits you and everything will be arranged for your visit.

In confidence,

Leon Bunyip.

OOC: If you want to do a thread about the actual visit, I'm willing, otherwise, we can end here, maybe with future letters as the woman progresses through her pregnancy. I'm open either way.
