Dear Mr. Edison Moony,

There wasn't a prefect's badge included in my letter today. I wish I could say I was surprised but it would be an outright lie. The school board was never going to choose me over Sisse. I was never going to be able to become a healer and I was insane to believe otherwise.

I wish you were here to talk me through this. I wish we could walk through the meadow and imagine some other future where my parents won't require me to abandon my goals.

I wish I was bold enough to send this letter. I miss you, Edison.

Dear Mr. Edison Moony,

My apologies for the delay in response. Life on the farm erupted into momentary chaos as Niamh forgot to lock the pasture gates. It took nearly four days to round up the goats.

Whether it's Calla or my own assistance, I'm sure you'll do well. You succeed in every venture you start, just as I know you will throughout all your life. Do aurors often need herbology in their field? I can't imagine it's a heavily relied upon skill, unless there's a hidden aspect of it I haven't considered.

I would like to continue on with Defense if at all possible. Spell damage healing is quite interesting on its own, though I will still most likely move into Plants and Potions. I'm unsure of whether or not I'll attempt to volunteer more in the infirmary or not, it largely depends on my course load and handle on the materials. More than likely I'll continue to squirrel away in the library.

Do take care to avoid any dust clouds. They can cause lingering issues with your lungs if inhaled too deeply. I hope some rain makes its way to you soon.

Less than a month now until we return to school.
Yours,
Ms. Alice Dawson

Dear Ms. Alice Dawson,

No apologies needed; goat retrieval takes priority.

I am not certain if Herbology is truly all that important to aurors, but they do consider it a requirement, nonetheless. Although, I suppose there are enough dangerous plants, so I can see why the knowledge would be useful. I heard one of the first years speaking about how their great aunt keeps a rather large Venemous Tantacula in her parlor in case of unwanted guests. I am unsure if the story is true, but I could certainly picture a batty old woman deciding that was the proper course of action.

If spell damage healing is something you're hoping to practice, we could use you in Dueling Club. There are many minor injuries that need to be remedied during and after sparring matches. I'm sure Madam [Nurse] would appreciate less foot traffic to the infirmary. They're generally simpler spells, but there's always a bold third year who attempts to cast something beyond his ken.

I will endeavor to avoid the dust. Thankfully, we received some rain. I also learned of my OWL results. It seems I will continue to be on track to take the correct NEWTs to become an auror. Did you happen to receive a badge in your letter?

I hope the incident with goats is the last! I shall see you soon, and I await hearing from you again.

Yours Friend,
Mr. Edison Moony

Dear Mr. Edison Moony,

Oh, Merlin! I never thought of poisonous houseplants as a potential hazard for aurors, but now that you've said it it makes perfect sense. How horrible it would be to be woefully unprepared to encounter anything as vicious as a Venemous Tantacula! Perhaps you ought to continue on with all of your subjects, so that you never encounter something without a rudimentary knowledge of what it must be. I would be devastated heartbroken most upset if harm were to befall you.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can add anything else to my roster this year. I'm considering leaving the flying club too so that I can spend more time studying. However, I'm always available to heal you or our friends if such a need arises. Madam [Nurse] will manage alright, I'm sure.

Congratulations on achieving high OWL scores! I never expected less of you. Your mother and Anne must be delighted.

We've made it nearly a week now with no further goat related injuries. I pray the trend continues. I look forward to your next letter!
Yours,
Ms. Alice Dawson

Dear Ms. Alice Dawson,

I think it'll be safe not to continue Astronomy, but I think you are correct in your assessment that it would be wise to have at least a general knowledge of everything. I appreciate your concern, but I don't think I shall come to any harm.

Even if you are to be dropping flying club, perhaps, if your schedule warrants it, we could still fly together from time to time. It certainly helps alleviate some of the academic stress.

It's nearly time for the new year to begin. Will we see you in Hogsmeade when you and your siblings come to purchase your supplies?

Your friend,
Mr. Edison Moony

Dear Mr. Edison Moony,

I'm sorry if I rambled in my last letter. I worry for you, is all. I'm sure you'll do well no matter what courses you take.

I would like that. It'll be nice to spend the last days we have It would give us some memories until Perhaps over the lake like we did in my second year?

Unfortunately not. My family does most of our shopping in London and we're nearly done already. My father will be picking up the last of our supplies when he goes next week.

I do hope you and Anne have an enjoyable shopping trip.
Yours,
Ms. Alice Dawson
