Orestes Lestrange, father (1836-1885)Appearance: Meta wasn't blessed with her mother's good looks, unlike her sisters. Instead, she is rather plain and takes a lot after her father where her face is concerned. She has dark brown, almond shaped eyes and the sort of sharp, dark eyebrows that make her look somewhat deranged. There's the resting bitch face and then there's Meta's resting sinister face. Adding to that, she has high cheekbones that while they would be considered ideal for a modern career in modeling, in the Victorian era they are rather unfortunate. Her hair is pin straight and dark brown, almost black under the right lighting. Lastly, she is the tallest amongst her sisters, standing at five feet and four inches. She is lean and has sharp bones. She's right-handed.

History:
Meta is the fourth child born to Orestes Lestrange and his German wife, Elda. She is a fussy child, so she gets to receive more attention than her siblings, often for the wrong reasons. In any case, this pattern of interaction with her parents has wired Meta in such a way, that she's the sort to misbehave in order to get attention.
Following a tantrum at her eighth birthday party in March 1884, Meta is severely punished by her father. He uses the Cruciatus Curse in the hopes of crushing her spirit and teaching her a lesson. Meta does learn a lesson and that is that her father can't protect her and that it is best to stay away from him. It doesn't help with her anger issues, though. Meta becomes even worst at regulating her emotions, because in her attempt to bottle them, they surface in worse ways when they finally do. Those anger bursts are coupled with aggressive displays of magic, like making fires suddenly become larger, causing glass to break, etc.
In the summer of the same year, the Laughing Plague plagues the Lestrange household. It kills her paternal grandmother, Silvia and her brother Aric. Publicly it also kills her mother, though in reality she is murdered by Orestes as a punishment for being adulterous. Meta, having grown up in a household where nobody really had an emotional connection to anyone, doesn't know how to react to those deaths. She feels numb.
In the March of 1885, a miracle happens -- her father dies due to an explosion at the Ministry of Magic building. Meta had begun to hate him after he had used the Cruciatus Curse on her, so she is overjoyed by his death. His children are separated -- Kristoffer is sent to their uncle Lucius' care, while the girls are taken in by their uncle Priam. Uncle Priam is a much kinder man than her father had been and his wife, Nephele, is the sweetest. Meta envies their children for having loving parents and feels that a terrible injustice was done to her for getting a father like Orestes.
In 1886, Hilda is killed by a mountain troll. Meta is saddened, seeing that she had been the only sister left at home with her. She is given weird looks by family members when she cries her eyes out at her funerals -- Lestranges aren't supposes to be so emotional!
Finally, it is Meta's turn to join her siblings at Hogwarts. She is certain that she will join her sister Gretchen in Slytherin, so she is shocked when the Hat sorts her in Gryffindor instead. The Hat promises her that she'll find her real home there and Meta doesn't have the time to protest before its decision is announced.
A decision that doesn't really make much sense in the beginning. Meta had been raised as a pureblood supremacist, so in the beginning, she doesn't take kindly to muggleborns and halfbloods, resulting in her being ostracized by most of her housemates. She tries to befriend other pureblood children in Slytherin, but they don't take too kindly to her being in Gryffindor and being so loud and obnoxious either. Meta isn't the best at making friends -- she is too honest and can't keep her temper. Even when she is right about something, Meta loses her right with her attitude.
With her attitude, she turns against her a girl she had been initially friends with, Holly Scrimgeour. The Slytherin soon turns the other Slytherin girls in their little friendship group against her and Meta finds herself alone.
It is during this period that she begins to bond with her sister Frida, who she thought to be a failure in the past, for being sorted into Hufflepuff. Frida suggests that she tries to befriend more Gryffindors and that she doesn't try to fit in with people that don't accept her. She also suggests that she keeps her opinions about blood purity to those who accept them.
Meta begrudgingly follows Hilda's advice, because she doesn't enjoy having no friends. First, she befriends other Gryffindors that share her views. However, her opinions about blood purity slowly begin to change when she is faced with acts of kindness by non-purebloods. She is forced to do some sort of assignment with a group of students that are the sort of people she is forced to hate -- a muggleborn, a working class person and someone non white. In a cheesy turn of events, Meta likes them and by the end of her second year, they become proper friends.
In her third year, Meta picks Care of Magical Creatures, Earth Magic and Muggle Studies. She picks the latter because she was tired of only her sisters receiving any praise or acknowledgment about their academic successes. Now her caretakers will have to pay attention to her as well!
Personality: Meta is a headstrong and fiery girl. She has anger issues, since she was never taught a healthy way to regulate her emotions. She either bottles up everything, or overreacts, there is no healthy in between. When she grows older, she will likely develop unhealthy coping mechanisms, like smoking or drinking.
She is honest to a fault, resulting in her insulting people because she fails to be diplomatic when it is needed to be.
Meta was taught as a child that the only way to get her parents' attention was through misbehaviour. She's the sort of person to believe that no attention is bad attention and is prone to break rules to get it. She likes it when people talk about her, because in her mind it is a sign that they care about her. Part of the reason she has started fraternizing with the sort of people her family is against is so she gets attention.
Meta is a risk-taker. She doesn't really have a sense of danger and usually acts before she thinks.
Other:
❧ She can speak German fluently, since it was her mother's first language.
❧ She has a good singing voice and she is an on off member of Hogwarts' music club. She's not the best at comitting to the art, or anything in particular, really.
❧ Her boggart takes the form of someone about to cast the Cruciatus Curse on her. It's not Orestes, since she's not really afraid of him anymore now that he's dead, but she's still terrified of experiencing the curse again.
❧ She might be a lesbian, but idk, we'll see.
