Dueling '90: Meserimus Valenduris v. Ellsworth Ruskin
#1
January 5th, 1890 — Headquarters of the London Society for the Practice of Combative Magic
Meserimus Valenduris
Ellsworth Ruskin

With two esteemed professors at Hogwarts participating in this round, it was sure to yield some interesting results! "Professor Valenduris, if you could please start us off this round."

Meserimus gave a convivial, and ridiculously formal salute to his fellow professor.

When he was given the go ahead to cast he flicked his exceptionally long wand and attempted to curse his friends shoes so that they would nibble on his toes - just slightly.

Ah, Valenduris, it felt as if Ellsworth more often than not found himself the opponent in duels of his old friend. He smiled and bowed, waiting for Valenduris’s first move then cast his own silent charm of his creation designed to hang Valenduris in the air from his toes.

An elegant round to say the least! Both spells worked perfectly, however, it seemed Professor Ruskin's spell did the trick to impede its target. "This round to Professor Ruskin! Professor Valenduris, when you are ready."

Meserimus gave a chuckle at his ill luck and cast a spell intended to make his opponent dance.

Ellsworth was quick to return with a spell to turn his opponent's knees to jelly, temporarily at least.

Well, this was to be expected - both professors were not to be underestimated. How well matched they were! Oh and Professor Ruskin was dancing quite jovially! After the counterspell was cast, the announcer said, "This round goes to Professor Valenduris!" And now motioning to the other professor. "Professor Ruskin, please begin our next round."

Nothing to get the blood pumping like a good jig, even a jinx induced jig. Rather out of breathe, he was well beyond his dancing years afterall, Ellsworth summoned an army of feathers to tickle his old friend. Rather more out of humor than a desire to that this duel seriously. Why not at least put on a good show?

Meserimus slapped his knees 'knees have been helly since 1820' he quipped to his friend with a wife smile as the score was equalised.

The other professor was called upon to cast and meserimus attempted to conjure a mirror to reflect the spell back at him

While both spells were cast perfectly, perhaps Professor Valenduris' spell occurred a fraction too late, as an army of feathers were already upon his person when he cast the spell to conjure the mirror. After casting the counter-spell: "Congratulations, Professor Ruskin, you are this round's winner!"
