Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Glancing between the two students, her final pair for the first round, Connie decided it was impossible to guess a victor. Both were that little bit older than some of the other competitors and against them they would have an edge - but against each other? All bets were off.

He'd been paired with Whitledge. Ugh. Her whole family struck a nerve - they were just odd. Regardless, he was relatively confident that he had this bout in the bag. Sure the seventh year Whitledge might have had her head on the most of any of her family but he still couldn't take her seriously.
Being on the offensive always did seem to give one a stronger start and sure enough the young man managed to get the jump on the girl and, though she tried to cast her shield charm, the greatest example of Mr Macnair's efficacy was that she couldn't speak the words at all.
"The first round to Mr Macnair and Miss Whitledge will begin the second ," Connie instructed as she cast the counter charm.

He likely would have felt more satisfaction in winning the first round if it was some more like say... Bones rather than Whitledge. But part of that was just the sexist in him that didn't even think women should be allowed to duel.
As she cast a confusion charm, he swiped his wand, aiming to reflect the spell back at her.
That was more like it! Connie felt a swell of pride as her own student made the young man look as though he had forgotten his current whereabouts, the fact he was a wizard and his own name. She quickly cast the counter charm.
"Excellent work Miss Whitledge. Mr Macnair will begin the deciding round."

Tied. If he wanted to win, he'd need finish this bout off strong. "Deprimo!" MacNair cast, hoping to fling the Miss Whitledge backwards with a strong gust if wind.
This was it, one more round. And Sweetie was determined to finish with victory. Concentrating on the spell at hand, "Finite!" Stopping his spell would be enough for her.
The two spells met in the middle of the floor and cancelled each other out quite neatly - both were excellently cast but it was the young lady who had deflected the attack and thus she received the final points.
"Miss Whitledge takes the round and will advance. Better luck next time Mr Macnair."
Although next time he would be an adult - she might well end up facing him herself!
