Rue has always thought herself to be plain-looking, though with long auburn-brown hair and wide, expressive blue eyes, it could be easily contested. She wears plain dresses and rarely gets fancy if she can avoid it. She is left-handed.   History: [November 18th, 1862] | Ruth Amelia joins Elias as the second child and only girl to Simon, a muggle man and Lucille, a pureblood witch. Ruth grew up in a continual state of poverty. From an early age, she helped out around the house, trying to make things easier. [1865] | Anthony joins the family and stretches the already tight budget of the working class family. They were never short on love in the Grimstone household and that at least, was plentiful- at least where her mother was concerned. While her parents were obviously very much in love, Ruth could tell that her father felt a bit left out once it was confirmed that all of the children were magical and therefore became very distant during her childhood. It's something she can have a hard time with looking back, but she understood his reasons now, as an adult, but it still stings. [1867] | Rue always wondered what it would be like to fly and in her first display of accidental magic- does just that right out f her second story bedroom window! Neighbors had to have their memories modified and Rue is warned to save her flying for lessons at Hogwarts. [1870-1874] | Elias goes off to Hogwarts in September of 1870 and  Rue is immensely jealous, but to keep herself busy she gets a job running errands for the local bakery. It’s not so bad, they pay her and give her leftovers at the end of the day to take home. Rue feels like she needs to do whatever she can to help out, whether it’s finding odd jobs or watching Anthony when she can. The bakery keeps her busy, letting her do deliveries and cleaning the shop, she even learns to do some easy recipes while she’s there. [School Year 1874-75] | Her late birthday sees her starting school a year after she would have liked, but Rue is quickly sorted into Gryffindor with her brother. he two had always been close growing up and while Rue had never been a stranger to Anthony either, she always felt like more of a more maternal figure where he was concerned, as she helped raise him. With Elias, she was always trailing after him. Plus he played quidditch which was fascinating! [School Year 1875-76] | Second year sees Rue making a few friends, though she doesn’t click very well with her female roommates, she much prefers tagging along after Elias and his friends (which is annoying at best) or hanging around with her house team’s players. Rue considers trying out for the team herself, but never was quite coordinated enough, so she joins club quidditch instead. [School Year 1876-77] | Anthony joins his siblings at school and is sorted into Ravenclaw. It suits him. Rue adds Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes as her electives. The burden of having three children in school is not lost on Rue so she knows she has to do well in her classes, but it’s not her favorite. Elias graduates this spring, which is helpful at least so the burden doesn’t last long. [School Year 1877-78] | School came naturally to her, but following the rules did not. Rue did not like being told when to be where or what she could or could not do. There was an honest effort, but her Gryffindor rebellious side frequently made itself known. While Elias could always be counted on to be reliable, Ruth was not always such. The academic part of school was not as tough as she imagined, charms and transfiguration became her strong suits. Anything she could perform in proved to be a strength of hers. [School Year 1878-79] | Tests, ew. Rue is not looking forward to OWLs but puts in an appropriate amount of effort to pass what she wants to continue in. She does well enough, it is what it is. Rue seriously considers being done with school at this point and finding an occupation based on her OWLs.  However Elias comes through in the clutch and releases the Oakshaft 79. His first broom design takes off- literally and figuratively and the boost helps to propel the Grimstone family into the middle class. Thankfully this means Rue doesn’t need to give up on school just yet. [School Year 1879-80] | Sixth year sees Rue keeping Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology and Potions.. She just barely scraped by in Potions, but she enjoys it, so works hard at it. [School Year 1880-81] | Graduation yessss. She’s ready to move on. As much as she enjoyed school, it was time to start something new. Her love of potions and herbology has her finding a job at the Apothecary in Hogsmeade after moving in with Elias. He clearly needs her, his house and workshop are a disaster and she can cook, so there’s that. It truly fascinates her and she’s starting to read up on the subject herself outside of work. Elias is drafted for the Hogsmeade trail in the spring, which worries Rue immensely, but it turns out alright. In August the house she shares with her brothers burns down completely thanks to a local pyromaniac who set the house next door ablaze for fun. Without housing or Elias’ workshop they relocate temporarily to the Three Broomsticks. [1883] | The Grimstone family suffers a lot of drama. Elias has his own things going on, though Rue is mostly oblivious as she’s dealing with her own personal issues. Instigated by Lucinda, Rue finds herself entangled with one Magnus Lockhart. Friendship turns into something else and whole effing lot of drama later, Rue and Lock marry in August. [1884] | Anthony graduates and begins an internship at Hogsmeade Hospital. Rue and Lock welcome a daughter to be named Margaery Bess in July. Lucinda marries in December. Rue is loathe to give up working, though she has to. [1885] | Rue delivers a second baby, a boy to be named Calvin Elias. Shortly after Lucinda has a girl, Tulip. [1886] | When a quidditch position opens for Lock, he takes it and leaves the job he’d taken in the Department of Magical Games and sports. Rue is both relieved and worried; which she hadn’t wanted Lock to quit in the first place, the job isn’t exactly a financially sound one and the pair fall into the working class again. They make due with what they have, Rue having learned from the best as her mother was quite skilled at making ends meet. She picks up occasional work as a seamstress, something she can do at home while the kids are occupied. She’s decent enough at it to make a little extra money and only gets better with practice. [1887] | About halfway through her third pregnancy, tragedy befalls the Lockhart family on a spring visit to the Sandition Resort. Margaery wanders off too fast for Rue to keep up and falls off the boardwalk into the ocean. Rue is the closest one and without a second thought jumps in after her daughter. Lock pulls them both out, but the damage is done. A collision with the pier sends Rue into an awful miscarriage. They lose a son, who they name Silas Anthony. Margaery suffers from a long bout pneumonia, but is otherwise fine. [1888] | Presently, after a crushing defeat in the quidditch playoffs, while Lock is off for the season, Rue is trying to pick up as much extra work as she can to fill the gaps.
