okay I am (finally) back with more tropes I like:
Not directly related but a FAV DYNAMIC: romancing [you] to get to [them]. Pairs well with unrequited romance.
See: when Lou absolute wrecked poor innocent Zelda's heart because he was in love with her sister Xena. I can't get enough of stuff like that.
^ both of these are also for me + what Kit said about "RL toxic, fine for fiction" + what MJ said about "toxic if it was anyone but you two"
Another one is unlikely allies to lovers - similar to enemies to lovers but not quite, just people who would have no reason to keep interacting except that there is a SITUATION that needs to be handled and by the time it's handled they're a little bit in love. See: Jules and Lachlan and the infamous gossip column.
Forced close proximity is a cousin to the one above I suppose.
Fateful pairing, but we're annoyed about it - one party keeps getting Signs from the Universe that this other person is important, eg they keep showing up at the right place/right time, there's a tarot card that represents them that always pops up in their spreads, that sort of thing. And this person is so miffed about it and the other person is clueless and wondering why the one seeing signs is always in a bad mood.
Also generally I'm up for anything messy, especially affairs <3
PSA, if anyone wants to combine one of these tropes with some kind of curse (perhaps my character is cursed and you being around triggers it but you don't know it? Perhaps a curse is the 'situation' that needs to be handled in the unlikely allies trope?) I would 100% revive a character or make a new one for that! Could also retcon some of the current inactives to make one work better for a situation - hit me up <3
