ACAB | REP 7 | TEENAGE PARTY WOO

What: Dorian's 17th Birthday Party
Who:

Invited: If you were cool enough to be invited to Sirius's Halloween party, you received an invite! Also, if you go to PSYR and are friendly with Elisabeth Champagne, you also would have received an invite. So that would be 5th-7th year, Quidditch players, PM me if you are unsure!

Not Invited: You know in the movies where a teenager is like "oh, i'm only inviting a few people" and next thing you know half the school showed up and it gets wildly out of control? This is what we're going for here, so if you think your character would crash, feel free!

Cost: None!
Where: Rosier Manor, Wellingtonshire, Hogsmeade
Why: Dorian's father is dead, he is sole inheritor, he's having a bad time and should be in mourning but he's also like I want to have a birthday party anyway to cheer myself up and my mother and little siblings are in France right now so I'm gonna take advantage of that.
When: December 26th, 1893

Dorian's mother has agreed to allow him to invite 2-3 people over for a nice birthday dinner while she's away with the younger children and he did the typical teenage thing and threw a party instead. Much like Sirius's Halloween party, given Dorian is supposed to be in mourning, this is mostly supposed to be under wraps and will have alcohol, spiritus sancti, and whatever else anyone might bring. This party, as stated previously, is supposed to mimic those teen parties in movies that get wildly out of control because half the population starts crashing, however, so please feel free to show up even if you didn't get an invite! Do something crazy! Have fun! The party itself will be a lot like a fancy Christmas ball to start, with ballroom dancing, holiday meals, and pretty wintery aesthetics all set up by Elisabeth, but who knows how it'll end up by the evening's end. Most of the Manor is closed off for the party but you can always explore!

ACAB | REP 3+ | AUCTION

What: The 1893 Auction of Oddities
Who: for people with money
Cost: no entry cost but the items obviously cost money
Where: A London Auction House
Why: Plot Hooks :)
When: 16 December

An annual occurrence in either December or January, the Auction of Oddities is a collaboration between several importers to offload a few of their more interesting pieces (and by interesting, we mean unvetted by the Ministry and possibly cursed). This year's auction will occur on the afternoon of December 16th. Held in an upscale London auction house, it is technically open to anyone, but in practice you will be given the stink-eye and strong-armed to the door if you don't look like you have money to spend (unless you're connected to one of the vendors/suppliers, or bidding on behalf of your employer). Although there are a dozen other items up for bid, there are five "big" items for auction which have been heavily advertised ahead of time and which are each expected to draw a crowd of bidders.

Each item is unique — confirmed or suspected to be one-of-a-kind — and billed as a prestigious thing to own, even if you have no intention of using it. There is a standard disclaimer for all items pointing out that the auction house and the suppliers have not tested any of the magics involved and the new owners are solely responsible for a) unexpected side effects; b) crimes committed; c) injury, illness, et cetera resulting in use of the items.

See the items available and coordinate auction bids or threads here!

ACAB | REP ANY | WINTER FUN

What: Winter Festival
Who: Hogsmeade Business Association organized it as a community event, anyone is invited
Cost: No.
Where: Padmore Park
Why: snow <3
When: 18-22nd December

For a week prior to Christmas a section of Padmore Park will be enchanted to become a winter wonderland covered in gently falling snow. There are designated areas for people to build snowmen, snow forts/buildings, and to stage snowball fights. Magic is encouraged for all activities. At the edges of the festival area some of the High Street businesses have staged little booths to sell thematic treats like cocoa, gingerbread cookies, roasted chestnuts, etc. For a small charge visitors can also engage a horse drawn sleigh for a trot around and through the park.

ACAB | Any Rep | Christmas Trees & Holiday Arrangements

What: Cut Your Own Christmas Tree + Holiday Floral Arrangements
Who: Anyone celebrating the holiday season
Cost: Free to enter, although prices for items to purchase will vary (naturally, the larger the tree, the more expensive they will be; the more complex/larger the arrangements are, the more expensive they will be)
Where: Hillicker Farm in Porchester, England
Why: get your Christmas on
When: December 9th

The Hillicker Farm is hosting an opportunity to come and walk the rows or trees to find the perfect one and cut it yourself; pre-cut trees are also available. Upon request, the tree can be enchanted to twinkle with lights. It will be delivered the following day, so no worries on how to get it home.

The Wildflower Florist shop, owned by the lovely Miss Daffodil Potts also has wreaths, arrangements and other holiday florals available for purchase. Fairies never actually go away and stole a few mistletoes to follow a few people around the farm with them to cause some mischief; it’s never a good idea to anger a fairy, so do so at your own risk. (They are not subtle in their anger and you may experience sudden terrible luck until amends are made.)

A small variety of hors d'oeuvres and sweet treats from Honeydukes to satisfy any palate are found near the entrance, available for a small fee. One free hot chocolate per visitor is offered upon entry to the farm. To enjoy the food, two bonfires with chairs surrounding them have been set up.

Where: The Colson residence in Wellingtonshire
Why: To celebrate the solstice and show her visitors a good time

ACAB | ANY REP | STUDENT PARTY

What: Annuel Upperclassmen Party
Who: Most 6th and 7th years, and some particularly cool 5th years and/or Quidditch team players. Generally, Head Boys/Girls are not invited for obvious reasons, and any Prefect in attendance can expect to be hazed until they participate. So they won't spill the beans, you see. But also is anyone really going to be watching the door?
Cost: BYO libations, snacks, entertainment strongly encouraged!
Where: The "Come and Go Room" is located on the seventh floor in the left corridor of Hogwarts Castle. There is a hidden entrance opposite the tapestry depicting the attempt of Barnabas the Barmy to teach trolls ballet. The way to open the room is to walk past it three times thinking about what one needs, and the door will appear. Students may not realize this room is what it is, but those with direct knowledge of the event will know to walk at precisely this spot and think, "I need a place to celebrate Christmas with my friends without worry."
Why: Come on, let your hair down! Students enjoy this time where they can loosen up a bit outside of the purview of chaperones, and share gifts with friends before they head off on what is, for many, their last holiday break! Other students look forward to the invite as this might be their first acquaintance to the finer pleasures in life - like good cider or brandy, a well-rolled cigarette, or a chance to finally catch the eye of a classmate with their impressive dance moves.
When: Friday December 15th, after dinner

Students at Hogwarts have often whispered about a long tradition of holding this highly secret not-official-not-endorsed Christmas party among older students. Generally, the party starts with tame drinks and snacks and Christmas cheer in the well-decorated room. Christmas gifts might be exchanged, plans for break made, and then things quickly turn into rowdy revelry with plenty of GAMES, from cards to musical chairs. Much to everyone's dismay, the night typically ends with a drunken musical rendition of "Hoggy Warty Hogwarts", and the host will secretly nominate someone to carry the tradition to next year.

This party has a storied legacy of legendary outcomes: new loves, new quarrels, shocking revelations, and a fair share of inebriated embarrassment. Even if you don't particularly care for your classmates, if you want to know anything about what people are whispering about for the rest of this month, you'll want to be there.

ACAB | REP 5+ | WINTER SOLSTICE BALL

What: Winter Solstice Ball
Who: Laurel Potts has pulled together a group of female shopowners and the wives of the High Street shops to host.
The ball is open to anyone, much as a community ball would be. Children are also invited to join in the festivities.
Cost: N/A
Donations of toys and other giftable items are encouraged to be given to orphans at Christmas
Where: Hogsmeade Memorial Hall
Why: To acknowledge the dark (longest night of the year) and look forward to the coming light (new year/new beginnings).
When: December 21, 1893

The ball will begin at sunset on the evening of the 21st and will continue until sunrise on the 22nd. This is to celebrate the coming of longer days and to respect the longest night of winter.
The ballroom has been decorated with boughs of furs, live pine and yule trees, with mistletoe and holly incorporated in. The ceiling has been enchanted to have snow falling from it and enchanted snow drifts have been tastefully woven into the greenery and decorations. The center of teh dance floor looks as if it is a frozen pond, although dancing on it will be the same as dancing on a regular dance floor. Floating candles have been charmed into the air to represent the winter sun over the long night.
There will be a candle lit at night fall that will burn the entire night for everyone. Guests are encouraged to add an herb or dried flower to the wooden bowl beside it to represent a wish for the new year. Laurel Potts will be near by to assist anyone who may need to know the meaning of a plant.
Food will be included with dishes brought from various High Street vendors. For example: a sampling of candies from Honeyduke's, cookies from the Potts' kitchen, spiced apple cider from the Plunkett General Store, Quin's famous hot chocolate, wine from East Ridge farm, firewhiskey from the Jewell Family Distillery, etc. This will include more hardy dishes as well as snacks to get everyone through the evening.
A wrapped gift will be given to each child in attendance with a small toy or treat.
There will be rolls and whoever finds the tin ornament baked into their roll will be the "Master of Revels" for the night and may demand anything from any guest. In previous years a child has been known to get this honor.
The final song will be played just before sunrise when guests will go outside to watch the sunrise together.

All are expected to attend if they plan on staying on Mme Delacour's good side.
