Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there is a rumor about some sort of potion that can turn you into a ghost for a period of time and even make it so you can interact with ghosts the way they interact with each other. I was wondering, is it possible to get pregnant if you are intimate with a ghost while on this potion?
1. Any potion which can 'turn one into a ghost' is untested and unregulated and should therefore be considered unsafe for consumption, until such time as it is formally sanctioned by the appropriate regulatory division of the Ministry of Magic.
2. There are no confirmed cases at any time in history of spirits successfully copulating with living beings of any sort.
3. Even if it were physically possible (which it almost certainly is not) it would be exceedingly inadvisable as spirits are incapable of providing most things human infants need (to wit: financial support, physical comfort or affection, and indeed any physical objects whatsoever).
Thank you for answering my question, but I still feel I need to ask you something else. Is a ghost capable of removing its clothes? Or are they stuck the way they died? Has there been any sort of scientific research into this and if not, why not? Also, I'm sure the latter answer is not true of all ghosts. What of the ones who were married when they died? Certainly if they have the capabilities to be with their husband or wife they should be able to!
Yes, ghosts are capable of removing items of clothing. Most don't, for a variety of reasons: they do not feel heat or cold and so have no need of adjusting their wardrobe; they do not usually have many alternative articles of clothing; removing a piece of clothing and leaving the area can sometimes mean losing that article forever, which is a significant detriment given the previous point.
My answer to this question should not be construed as any kind of endorsement, personal or official, of activities involving spirits removing clothing.
Of course you would never endorse such things, I won’t tell, but we’re only talking hypothetically, of course. But, hypothetically, how long can clothes stay off before they disappear? And with that I wonder, what do you do with all the naked ghosts? I never see any naked ghosts wandering around, but I’m sure some die unclothed or as you said, some go missing. Does the Spirit Division keep them contained somewhere for propriety reasons? If so, is there a way to have a ghost clothes charity so that they can be free? I don’t think locking them up is very humane of the Ministry.
We certainly do NOT have a "lock-up" of naked ghosts in the Spirit Division. Shocking as you may find it, taking their clothing off is not usually the PRIMARY concern of the deceased members of our society.
He stopped his pen midway through the letter when he realized he was gritting his teeth as he wrote. Putting words in all capital letters was likely not very professional, and he already had two of them. He put his quill down, flexed his hand a few times, and fetched a clean piece of parchment.
Miss,
If we ever find ourselves in the position of needing to shelter dozens of naked ghosts from the eyes of respectable society I am sure we will find a more humane method of doing so than restricting them to the Ministry. At this time we have not found this to be a prevalent issue in the spirit community.
