Millie,

I hope this letter finds you well! I was just checking to see how your classes were going? Were you able to get a tutor? I hope you've continued on with the dueling! Have there been anymore tournaments? I hear the new Defense professor is pretty good, an old cursebreaker.

I've sent some chocolates and tulips for your dorm, enjoy!
Best,
Daffy

So that's who those were from. The tulips smelled so good, I might have lost them to Cordelia if they didn't have my name attached. She ate half the chocolates anyway, not that I minded sharing.

I'm doing the best I can with classes. I found a tutor for Potions, I think. Her name is Anne Moony and she lends me her notes in class. She's also in Slytherin, and that surprised me. Anne is very kind for a Slytherin, don't you think?

There haven't been any more dueling tournaments yet. I don't know if I should enter them. Professor Lissington made me clean his classroom for detention once, and now he's a little scary. I suppose that's a good thing for a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, now that I write it out.

How is London? I dream of it sometimes, visiting Diagon Alley and maybe even venturing out into the city. Muggles would be more interesting than writing my essay for Ancient Studies. I should get back to that now, so I will sign off now.

May this letter find you well (and warm).

Yours,
Millie

Millie,

Well I'm glad you got to enjoy some of them at the very least! With Dahlia courting Mr. Honeyduke, we'll have no shortage of sweets from here on out!

I think anyone can be kind if you look hard enough. Of course anyone can be unkind as well. I cannot recall any terribly unpleasant interactions with Slytherins specifically in my time at Hogwarts, but it is nice she is helping you with potions! I think you should certainly enter if there is another tournament! I once earned detention for falling asleep in History of Magic, it happens.

London is a big change, but I am enjoying myself. I have a whole rooftop garden and a giant greenhouse, so it feels like home even though I am in the city. Perhaps you will get a chance to visit me this summer!
Best,
Daffy

I truly cannot wait for summer, it feels like it should be here already. I can see patches of green out the window right now, but that's only if I squint very hard. I can't imagine there is much growing in London right now, except of course in your greenhouse and garden!

A rooftop garden sounds like heaven! I wonder if Professor Foxwood would let someone go up on the Ravenclaw Tower roof to grow a garden. Do you think he would? They would certainty get plenty of light up there on sunny days.

Do you have a lot of sunny days in London? I only hear about fog and smog and that doesn't sound very pleasant. Nevertheless, I would love to visit this summer. I'll ask Mum and Papa about it, I should be old enough to come on the train myself even if they can't.

Yours,
Millie

Millie,

Summer will be here soon enough and you will have so much to do. I do believe we'll have a wedding to plan for at some point!

I daresay that Ravenclaw tower is quite a bit higher than the roof of my townhouse in the Alley. I don't believe I know Professor Foxwood, but it's probably unlikely. You have greenhouses upon greenhouses I'm sure Professor Skeeter would let you use if you like.

It's not so bad, the smog isn't great, it's certainly not as clear as Hogsmeade, but enough sunshine peeks through. Magic helps. The rooftop is a nice little retreat into greenery when I need it. Of course the greenhouse out back helps too. It's much larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Even Hector has adapted nicely.

Hoping exams and the end of term go well for you!
Best,
Daffy

A wedding? Who is getting married? Please don't say you're playing a trick on me, Daffy, I didn't mean what I said about Mr. Honeyduke at Christmas time. I'm still so embarrassed every time I think about that.

About the idea of a garden, I wouldn't have thought Professor Skeeter would let just any student plant there. Maybe when I'm an upper year, I shall ask him. I will try not to mourn my idea of a Garden of the Heights, that's the name I thought up for it you see, for too long. It really could have been beautiful. I will just grow a clipping of one of the grounds flowers in my window as a poor substitute.

And I shall visit your Garden of the Heights instead, then! If you don't have a name for it yet, then I respectfully submit that one. And if you do, then I shall simply carry it in my heart when I visit, sometime this summer of course. The smog won't bother so much in the presence of so many beautiful foliage as I'm sure surrounds you in there.

Thank you for the well-wishes. I make sure to study as diligently as I can. Sometimes it's hard, especially knowing that Papa expects so much of me here. OWLs are just two years away, but they feel so close and I am so underprepared. I've decided I want to pass all my courses with at least an A this year. That way it gives me two whole terms to get them all up to an E.

Which means I must send this now rather than taking more time from my studies.

All my best to you and your garden,
Millie

Millie,

Oh don't be silly, nobody even thinks twice about that. I do mean Dahlia though, I highly suspect she and Mr. Honeyduke will be tying the knot this summer. Everything points that way!

Professor Skeeter has plots for anyone to use, if I'm not mistaken. It's where I started growing Hector. He was for an OWL project, but afterwards that is where I kept him. I believe Calla has one as well. You could ask her, if you truly want a little garden space.

Garden of the Heights, I love it. You're more than welcome to come see it when school is over. I have an interesting variety of things growing up there, including a cherry tree and some pumpkins. My tree has a family of bowtruckles as well, including my little Twiggy.

End of year exams are good practice for OWLs I find, if you can do well on them, you will be just fine when the big ones roll around. You have a good strategy though and a good head on your shoulders, I have the utmost faith in you! I've attached some lively sunflowers and some treats from the bakery down the alley for your study sessions.
Best,
Daffy

I have to tell you that the brownies were an absolute delectation! (I learned that word from Aurora Floyd, by the way, have you read it?) They came when Cordelia was out, and I hid them under a few extra blankets under my bed. Perhaps that was selfish of me. They were just so good! Thank you very much.

The sunflowers were excellent motivation to study, in the most peculiar way. Someone kept turning the flowers inward, to look at them I suppose, and wouldn't you know it, the flowers twisted themselves back around to look at the sun! If this was your way of teaching me to stay on task, then it worked.

That's why this letter is so late, too. I am not certain if I can promise a more prompt response in the future, at least until exams are over. And then we can see each other in person!

Millie
P.S. Please do tell the bakery how delectable the brownies were, too.
