Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
When I left on this assignment I completely forgot about the plant behind my desk. I hope it isn't dead, but could you maybe, if you're over that way, stop by and water it for me? It has sentimental value and I'd rather it not die because of my negligence. You're the best.
Cheers, Cartwright

Cartwright,
You're in luck that I'm such a diligent worker and decided to stay late. Once I'd come back from my break I saw your letter on my desk! Your plants have been watered, but I daresay you were nearly too late. But I managed to bribe one of our colleagues with promises of my mother's cooking to help me revive it. Crisis averted!
Thank you, you really don't know how much I appreciate it. Do you think you could keep an eye on it, or even take it back to your place and take care of it? I really would hate for something to happen to it. I know it sounds stupid, but it's got some fond memories attached to it.
Hope things around the office aren't too boring without me, hopefully we'll be back soon. I'm getting antsy and I feel like Hatchitt is ready to murder me. We should have the lead we need to wrap this up in a fortnight or so.
Cheers, Cartwright

Cartwright,
I've placed the plant in our living room where it's enjoying a great deal of sunshine every day. I think my mother has taken a shine to it, which is going to be unfortunate when you return. She wants to ask you where you got it, which I assure you, you needn't answer that question until you get back.
Things are quite boring one day and then the next, it's all hands on deck. I'm sure it's less interesting than your mission, but you'll tell me when you're back. Don't let Hatchitt murder you. I don't think I need to tell you that of all the people in the world, she could be the one that would do it and get away with it.
Oh well, if it wasn't quite so sentimental I would gladly leave it with her. We may be able to split and transplant some of it. Definitely need someone more herbology minded than me, that's about all I've got.
I'm surviving, so far without being murdered, but it's temperamental. You're right, if you don't hear from me again, assume I pissed her off to the point of no return. I think after this I'll happily take some desk duty. I always thought myself to be athletic, but this is putting me through the ringer.
Cheers, Cartwright

Cartwright,
You're too kind, but if we're not able to it's really not necessary, I'll just have to convince mama that we can always find another plant!
There's always a point in one's career when they aren't sure what's in store for their future in their department. I was the same after the shipwreck last year. Did I tell you I almost resigned? Had the resignation letter all written up and everything. I'm glad I talked myself out of it. You're a good auror, Cartwright, I'm sure after a while on desk duty you'll be fit as a fiddle for your next mission.
I mean generally I much prefer this to desk duty, but sometimes it feels a little extreme. Hatchitt and I are on long shifts because it's just the two of us. I know more people would have made things suspicious, but for two, even highly trained as we are, it's a lot. It's hard for me to get read on how she's doing. Her dedication is admirable though, I will say that.
I didn't know things had gotten so close for you. I was on land handling the aftermath for the most part, were you on the boat when things went haywire or were you on board for the monster fight? I can't remember. It feel like a long while ago, even though it wasn't. I feel like those emergency situations are different too, really puts you and your instincts on the spot. Glad you stuck it out.
Cheers, Cartwright

Cartwright,
So sorry for the delay in rseponse, work has been — as I'm sure you know — hectic, to say the least! Forgive me, I would have figured you two to be thick as thieves, what with being aurors and watching each others backs and all.
I was on board recovering passengers. I got stuck with a friend someone I knew from school and we very nearly drowned that day. My coat got caught on a crate and it almost dragged me under. I'm sure you've experienced much more excitement in your line of work, but I'll be honest that very nearly did me in. I can't say I'm too fond of water ever since. I'm glad I stayed, even if it weren't for the fact that employment is something I need at the moment.
Hope you and Hatchitt are doing well — must dash, another crisis calls.
We are good partners on assignment that is certain, just not a lot of personal comradery, I would say. With only the two of us we need to stay focused, so we don't dally in distractions. That said, we do work well together, in sync and it's intuitive, but like I mentioned, not very close other than that. I have yet to make her laugh anyway. Then I know I'm in. Perhaps I should work on that, this is really starting to wear on me, I can imagine it's doing the same to her.
That is scary, it's hard to deal with the unknowns sometimes. I'm glad you made it out alright. Can't say I blame you on the water thing. I would have had the same reaction. I suppose you could always try for another department, if it came down to it, but you have always struck me as the kind to persevere.
Good luck!
Cheers, Cartwright
