UCAB  & ACAB*| ANY REP | COUNTRY PARTY

What: Prewett Country Party
Who: Fitzroy Prewett and Camilla Prewett will be hosting a country week for a select guest list, culminating in a ball on the final night for anyone UCAB or involved in Quidditch.
Cost:
Where: Elysium, Hampshire — The Prewett's shiny new country house!
Why: #Party
When:

Party: August 8th-14th
Ball: August 13th

Look, Fitz bought a house and it's time to show that thing off. The ball will be held in the house's ample, slightly overgrown gardens with an "enchanted garden" theme—leavitating lights, floral accents, etc. For more info on the party, see below.

COUNTRY PARTY GUEST LIST AND SCHEDULE:
The country house party is a very dangerous event. Married persons often find themselves enojying the company of one other than one's spouse, and unmarried persons often return to town as rather hastily engaged persons.

Indeed, the most surprising betrothals are announced on the heels of these spells of rustication.

UC/MCAB| REP 6+ | Ball with entertainment

What: Wisteria Ball
Who: Hosted: anyone in the UCAB category, select Middle classes. Hosted by Natsuko Mountbatton
Cost: Nope
Where: Natsuko's Hogsmeade Home
Why: Season things
When: 2nd August

The event hall is festooned with wisteria, a symbol of intelligence and good luck. Wisteria hang from the ceiling and candles magically suspended upside down , a bit like this. A band will play all evening and the food will be english and japanese, the same with the drinks. There will be arches of wisteria leading into and out of the ballroom to the various anterooms, because of their construction there just happen to be some private little corners people can slip into and go unnoticed.

At midnight, attendees will be invited onto the magically enlarged veranda to write their regrets and wishes onto slips of paper and release them in paper lanterns into the night sky, sending them into the sky to release them into the universe.

ACAB | ABY REP | CHIDLREN'S PICNIC

What: Teddy Bear Picnic
Who:

An elderly, indulgent widow whose grandchildren are all grown and/or dead has organized the large event. Invitations were actively sent to MC families known to have children under thirteen, and she also took to handing out invites to any children she encountered in the fortnight leading up to it, regardless of class. Obviously the children would bring an adult of some sort unless they're Urchins.

Cost: Your Dignity N/A
Where: Padmore Park
Why: More events for children <3
When: August 1st, 1892; Afternoon
You (and, of course, your stuffed toy of choice!) are invited to a picnic in Padmore Park! Are you a child, or just a diminutive adolescent who is embarrassed to have been invited? Doesn't matter—Mrs. Butts wants you to come enjoy an afternoon of light lunch, croquet, and a scavenger hunt!

  • Denbrights Emporium will have a booth on site to sell stuffed critters to those who forgot (or declined to bring) their own.
  • Stuffed things are mandatory as a +1.
  • Fake food will be available for toys, and charmed to gradually disappear as "fed" to the toys.
  • Real food will be available for Real People.
  • A tent, table, chairs, and buffet will be set up for the adult chaperons (governesses and nannies, ofc, but parents or older siblings are also invited).
  • Your invitation will have a blanket number on it, much like a weird seating chart, so you can interact with New People
  • While this is ostensibly open to all classes, there may naturally be some delineation between them.
  • Scavenger Hunt: Bright balls may be found throughout the park, most containing candy or simple shrunken toys that will return to full size in 24-48 hours. Some, however, have tickets that can be redeemed for grander toys at the Denbright's booth!

ACAB | REP ANY | Funeral

What: The Funeral of Mister Ambrose Grovel
Who:
Upperclass members will elbow their way to the front
Middle class falls in behind,
Working classes should arrange themselves at the back of the church
Following the funeral the well to do members of society will attend a supper
Working classes shall have ale and meat pies courtesty of the family.
Cost: None- but you should probably send flowers.
Where: Church in Hogsmeade
Why: Mister Ambrose Grovel is dead,

When: 2nd August

Victorian liked a good funeral and their funerals were notorious for being excessive and austentatious - families would bankrupt themselves 'putting on a good funeral'. Mister Ambrose Grovel is dead, his family wants him to go out with style. To preserve the austere feeling of the event there is a muffling charm over everything - so an oppertunity to mingle, chat in low voices and talk without being overheard and without it seeming inproper, have a bitch about the mourners or wear a veil and stand on the sidelines being dramatic.

M/UCAB | REP 4+ | PARTY BOAT

What: Victor Daphnel's Birthday
Who: Invitees are friends: male, good-ish repute, UC/MC, likely are or were involved in Atlantis or Excalibur, or are academic/healer types. Also, his younger brothers are coming and each were allowed to invite a few people, so if you want to establish that your character is a friend of a brother feel free to tag along.
Cost: No, but you are expected to take time off work in order to make the departure portkey or find your own way to join them. Also, maybe bring a gift.
Where: The Mediterranean
Why: Victor is celebrating what is likely to be his last birthday as a single man in style (and also his last birthday in general but he doesn't know that).
When: August 12th - 13th

The portkeys depart from the Daphnel house in Wellingtonshire at 11AM on Victor's birthday and deposit the partygoers in Athens, Greece. After spending a few hours in the city they will embark a small boat and use it to sail around the various Greek isles or pieces of neighboring countries as they're inclined (the boat is speedier than typical travel because ~magic). Food and alcohol will be plentiful. At some point someone will be gifting him the Leucrotta and it will hang out onboard the rest of the event doing imitations of various people. There aren't women on the boat but we'll be anchoring near a city at night so if you want to go brothel-hopping that's your prerogative.

The next day includes boozy brunch and more touristy things around Greece. The party returns to England just in time for all the drunk men to go crash Fitzroy Prewett's house party ball.

M/UCAB | REP 6+ | BALL

What: The Fruit Ball
Who: Some random UC character. Targeted to people participating in the Season, so UC and MC folks, of decent rep and up, any blood.
Cost: Nope
Where: Wellingtonshire
Why: OOC, because I need a backdrop for Seneca and Estelle's thread. IC, to party and Season.
When: August 6th

I wanted a thematic ball which wasn't super well planned, so Seneca and Estelle could bitch. The first thought that came to my mind was a fruit-themed ball, hence the ball name.

There's one large buffet with fruit at their center. There's also various activity associated with fruit:

---

One of them, is inspired by a greek party game called the Lighter. It's played by a group, there's this lighter and it's played like this: At the beginning, someone takes the lighter (at random). Another person asks them something along the lines of "Who's the most/least likely to do X". The person who has the lighter, gives it to whoever they think is more likely to do so. Then, the person who previously had the lighter, as the new person with the lighter.

Anyways, at the Fruit Party, this will be played with apples, as a nod to how the Troyan War came to happen.

---

Some apples were spiked with health potions. Some characters may feel their headache go away, or their sinus infection leave them. However, because magical malfunction is fun, some apples will make guests sick. Nothing tragic - a common cold, or a stomachache, that kind of stuff.

---

This website I consulted on fruit and their meanings say that peaches are associated with longevity, so eating some peaches will make characters younger for some hours. So if you want a reason to play your character as a child at a ball, this is your chance!

---
For figs they say this:
Quote:In Greek and Roman mythology , figs are sometimes associated with Dionysus (pronounced dye-uh-NYE-suhs), god of wine and drunkenness, and with Priapus (pronounced pry-AY-puhs), a satyr (half-man, half-goat) who symbolized sexual desire.

So eating figs will make characters racier and hornier ;)
BUT, in a way that's character appropriate. They won't all tear their clothes off and make out with people in front of everyone lol.

---

Guests were also encouraged to wear fruit inspired outfits.

U/MCP/HB | REP 7+ | CATEGORY

What: Claudius Lestrange's birthday party
Who: Hosted by his wife, Ellory Lestrange, who pretends she doesn't understand her husband doesn't actually want his birthday celebrated.

Invited are: everyone related to the Lestranges, be it by blood or marriage.
Upper-class pureblooded families.
Upper-class half-blooded families.
Middle-class pureblooded families.
Notable Ministry members, regardless of class (Think Department Heads etc.)
Anyone who works at the Department of Mysteries.
1-3 Magizoologists (see below).

Cost: No, but your character would be expected to bring some kind of present.
Where: The Rookery, Oxfordshire
Why: To celebrate Claude's 33rd birthday and also so I have a backdrop for Seneca threads.
When: August 16th

Ellory thinks that it's great Claude's birthday is in summer, because that makes celebrating it all more fun!

She was allowed to use The Rookery and, thankfully, that meant that her more sensible female relatives would help her with the planning — AKA, tell her that no, she can't bring weird magical creatures.

What she was allowed to do, was borrow unicorns (babies and not) from some unicorn sanctuary. People from the sanctuary/magizoologists will be in attendance to make sure the animals don't receive any maltreatment and to answer guest questions.

The party will be held out of doors, on the vast grounds. There will be a dancefloor, charmed butterflies that will serve as lanterns and generally a fairy-tale esque summer vibe. Think something like this.

There will be many secret dark spots the further you go from the main dancefloor ;)

Ellory's present to Claudius will also be an egg of a rare species of dragon and she also paid good money for it to hatch, by hiring a Dragon breeding specialist. This dragon will then be taken to some dragon breeding sanctuary because even Ellory knows they can't keep it around Wellingtonshire.

ALSO, guests will be encouraged to make donations to unicorn and dragon sanctuaries.

UCAB | REP +7 | ECCENTRIC RICH PEOPLE PARTY

What: Floo Powder Hide & Seek
Who: Hosted by the Wildsmiths and 4-5 UC families (see below if you want to be one of them). Targeted to UC people.
Cost: None.
Where: Between 2 Wildsmith homes and 4-5 homes of other UC families.
Why: To have some fun while wasting more Floo Powder than a Working Class family uses in a month!
When: August 19th

A party which involves playing Hide and Seek, but, in order to make the game more fun and difficult, Floo Powder will be used! The game will begin at the Wildsmith country house and guests will be able to hide in any of these places:
1. The Wildsmith country house.
2. The Wildsmith London house.
3. Another UC person's house (Could be your UC person's!)
4. Another UC person's house (Could be your UC person's!)
5. Another UC person's house (Could be your UC person's!)
6. Another UC person's house (Could be your UC person's!)

The Wildsmiths and the families that are involved have prepared rules as to where people can hide in each house and there will be servants at every fireplace instructing guests how to pronounce the destinations to ensure that things run smoothly.

But, this could easily go wrong since someone could drunkenly mispronounce the destination and end up somewhere else.

Also, if Admins agree, Floo Network Ministry people could show up at some point and spoil the fun, because they've been hogging up the Floo Network.

MC-UCCAB | REP any | Opera

What: La Travieta
Who: Some Italian magical opera company
Cost: Various costs depending on if you want a box or what seat you want. Upper mc would comfortably be able to attend, uc only would afford a box.
Where: Magical London Opera House
Why: #culture
When: 22nd August - 31st

A noted Italian opera company is coming to London for a week of performances performing their 'party piece' - La Travieta. There was usually drinking - or worse (for the single men) and late dinners (11pm-ish) for everyone else.

The Opera was as much about talking as it was about the music. The first acts were usually reserved for conversation with the people in the various seating circles and using your opera glasses to spy on others. People generally only paid attention during the Third Act or finale.
